Most of my relatives live or lived in Maine. Only 2 are MAGAs, the rest were democrats, except one aunt who voted for Nixon and Reagan.
One cousin in particular is very politically active. I knew nothing about this candidate, and she explained the dynamic and details

It is not a case where Mills wasn't really in the race so the only real option was Platner.

The facts are exactly opposite that. Mills was backed by the entire Dem establishment. She was the chosen candidate.
