Platner: Susan Collins has voted to send billions of our taxpayer dollars to fund other people's wars.

Susan Collins, how do you justify closing hospitals while using our tax dollars to destroy them halfway around the world?

Make less than 100k per year, and when the cost of everything continues to go up, spending money on all of this empire building will become toxic. It won’t matter who the messenger is.

When I googled US funding universal healthcare in Israel I got this:

No, the United States does not finance universal healthcare in Israel.Israel’s universal healthcare system is entirely funded and operated domestically by the Israeli government. The system's costs are sustained through a combination of mandatory progressive health taxes paid by Israeli citizens, employer contributions, and general government revenue.U.S. financial assistance to Israel is almost exclusively restricted to military and defense aid. Historically, the U.S. provided significant economic assistance to Israel, but that was gradually phased out as Israel's economy developed. Today, bilateral aid is governed by a long-term agreement that limits funding to military equipment, technology, and missile defense systems.

I have many many many issues with the present policies in Israel and with Netanyahu and the right wing there, but let's be accurate in our statements.

There's plenty to criticize without making statements of fact based on assumptions.
We do NOT fund their healthcare.

stated as fact that implies that we directly fund their healthcare - which is not true. We could use that money for anything - including infrastructure projects.

This is how rumors get started and is fodder for haters.
Have a good day.

With progressive taxes? I don’t believe we should send any money at all to Israel. We may not be funding their health care system directly, but if we weren’t giving them so much money for military expenses do you think they would chose to continue to fund their health care system?

It's kind of wild to find out that the Republican in the NYT story that says she had a toxic relationship with Graham Platner is Lyndsey Fifield.

He's a threat to them. He had a lot shit thrown his way and he survived all it. No one could fling that much shit without feeling threatened in some way. I stopped reacting to it and started seeing it for what it was. That's why I've done a complete turn around on him.

When asked about the other long-simmering foreign war that the U.S. is funding in Ukraine, he took a different tone. “I support the Ukrainians in their fight. They were invaded. They’re resisting with all the means that they can. And I personally think that we should provide them with support,” he explained. Similarly, he opposes the dismantling of USAID and the withdrawal of American humanitarian and development support around the world.
