You earned it. I was Platner sceptic until recently. I think he's won me over.

that will stop. But we'll barely notice it, because most of the smear campaign was undoubtedly coming from AIPAC and the corporations that are so fearful of this Mamdani/Platner populism overtaking national politics in the next decade.

But the ratfuc*ing it clearly was? Go back and look nationally at all the pearl clutching, and those claiming to care about violence against women, or having concerns about allegations - never any physical violence or rape - created by someone desperate for attention or possibly getting paid a lot of money for speaking out, or the pundits desperate to create controversy and you’ll see why Mainers chose Platner. This country is now in a war against the poor, the workers, and those who won’t succumb to the fascists and fools and frauds that are the Republican Party.

See https://www.opensecrets.org/profiles/susan-m-collins/us_congress/organizations?cycle=2026&mpid=1116679

But those numbers are pretty meaningless. In the post-Citizens United era, AIPAC (a taxpayer-advantaged not-for-profit) organized many millions of dollars in opaque donations. She is sitting on $10 million, but there is much more than that in PACs that operate on her behalf.

She chairs the appropriations committee, so the bribe line starts down the hall and around the corner. Get in line, and make sure you don't slice it too thin. It takes cash to fuel this gravy train.

But Platner got a bad tattoo when he was deployed in Kosovo.

With the Platner attacks. If they don’t support our chosen candidates, what is the point?

He'll beat Collins.

Democrats need to get a grip, and take the threat Trump poses to American democracy seriously. We messed around, dragged feet, lolligagged, and delayed and obfuscated for the first two years Biden was in office when we had house and senate majorities and cringed and clutched pearls when someone suggested aggressive action to stop Trump because it "looked too political." We need more Graham Platners who will be the kind of bold risk takers necessary to push the GOP aside and out of the way and put a stop to this madness.
