https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/polls/maine-us-senate-election-polls-2026.htmlNow I know this is the New York Times which, should we disagree with its findings, we can discount as something other than the journal of record.
But it seems to me that the top line is Platner +66% (76% Platner to 10% Mills).
That is a spicy meatball.
It is almost like the citizens of Maine are making clear what they want.
You can look to the general election head to heads and see that Platner outperforms Mills.
But you knew all this already... otherwise, why'd you be reading my thread?

(10,475 posts)...won the primary with 70% of the vote and led Collins in every single poll leading up to Election Day -- but still lost.
But while we're here, honest request: does anyone have any links to Platner's support of Hillary/Biden/Kamala and/or attacking Trump/MAGA by name?

(6,759 posts)Jacobin did an article about their analysis of his entire decades long Reddit posts - they read every one. And he does express his Anti Trump and anti Trumpian admin and anti fascist and anti authoritarian stuff. Link to my post is here if you would like https://www.democraticunderground.com/100221290750]
A few examples
Gun control aside, most of the political positions Platner expressed on Reddit were conventionally progressive ones: pro-vaccine, pro-LGBTQ, pro-universal health care, belief in climate change, virulently anti-Trump, and enraged by January 6, to name a few.
Platner typically expressed them in the same vulgar, politically incorrect way that has dominated recent headlines. Trump was a f*cking c*nt and a mentally incapable narcissist, the latter next to the word retarded struck through. Oliver North was a lying piece of sh*t. A Capitol rioter asking for clemency was a f*cking worthless pussy. And a traitor. A former congressman who cheated constantly on his wife was the epitome of the frat bro officer douchebag.

(4,620 posts)Fetterman is a member of the Democratic caucus. He is better than Susan Collins.
Nothing about Platner suggests he will be another Fetterman. Fetterman seems to hate Platner's schtick.
I look forward to 36 hours from today when we will all be preaching the same anti-Collins hymn.
LisaL
(47,838 posts)At this point it's debatable if he is better than Susan Collins, because she hasn't done that.
mr715
(4,620 posts)This isn't up for debate Lisa.
Fetterman votes for Schumer, Collins does not.
This isn't a complicated equation.
Fetterman, the worst Democrat, is better than any Republican.
Even Republicans like Merrick Garland and James Comey.
LisaL
(47,838 posts)But she hasn't called Platner "tacky and gross" as Fetterman had.

(18,219 posts)why he voted for Trump and he understands why people voted for Bernie. It sounds like he's an Independent who is using our party again. I haven't seen anything close to what you are seeking, and I've been wondering the same things myself.

If Janet Mills did that, she'd need a 3 month vacation.

(4,620 posts)I want a coalition builder.
I want Susan Collins to go down in flames.
I want Platner to win Democrats, Independents, and Republicans.
I want his election to be a repudiation of money in politics and institutionalism.
I, too, want a ""fighter"" -- one that knows when to fight.
W_HAMILTON
(10,475 posts)Meanwhile, you disparage Janet Mills, someone who has won many and who has an actual history of fighting for Democratic values.
mr715
(4,620 posts)I supported her until she failed to demonstrate the ability to win the primary.
She did not put in effort. If you dispute this, cool. We'll disagree (again).
Platner is, however, doing the leg work and fighting. And I suspect he is going to win.
And yeah, that is hope and vapors. Yeah, it is optimism. But it is because if you listen to him talk he is saying the right words to get me fired up.
I'll submit one word: filibuster.
Edit: He sure is winning the primary.

(4,620 posts)It hurt my feelings.
I thought DU was a welcoming environment for Democrats that, ya know, support Democrats.
And now I'm here (more) ashamed of my anatomy.
I thought I've been completely reasonable this whole time what with supporting Mills and then Platner, but it turns out I was thinking with my cis het dick the whole time.
