Space X stock ownership is going to be mandatory for some.

Because of the size of *a slice* of Space X after it goes public, the stock is going to be introduced into several indexes right away.

Investment portfolios which follow those indicies will be required by their own rules and strategies to own shares of Space X in order to correlate with them.

Apparently, it is a noteworthy occurrence that a new offering goes into so many of the most popular indexes right away.

But the size of the offering and future it represents of multi-sector commercialized technology makes it an indispensable holding.

That t I think 2 of the indices announced they would not require it until up to 365 days thereafter, and none in the first 2 weeks. So there is a lot of doubt about what's actually going on .
