Most kids running a lemonade stand worry about hailing down customers, whether they have enough ice and if the lemonade tastes sweet enough. But Parez and Jakkhi Reese encountered a different problem after someone called 911 on them.
The two brothers had set up their neighborhood lemonade stand in Kansas City, Kansas something theyd reportedly been doing for years. But, this week, a concerned caller contacted emergency services to report the boys business. What happened next turned a potential buzzkill into one of the feel-good stories of the summer.
When police officers and firefighters arrived on the scene, they didnt shut the stand down. According to local reports, officers and members of the fire department quickly became some of the boys biggest customers.
Officer Morgan Reed was among the first to arrive and immediately started calling fellow officers, encouraging them to stop by and support the young business owners.

Some busy body called the cops. Maybe because the kids were black.

I don't know if it's possible or not, but if possible, the person who made the phone call should be cited for creating a nuissance.

(29,285 posts)calling 911 is absurd.. the police should have a chat wth the caller and remind them that 911 is for emergencies.
So happy to see this turn out so well for those kids! Bravo to all!

Some time in April, before lemonade stand season begins, we'd have a class at somewhere like a meeting room at the public library. Hire a couple chefs and a city official who's good with kids to come in for the day to teach it. It'd cost the kids One Dollar to attend. We'd teach them basic sanitation, how to make good lemonade, how to set up a stand so it's easy for them to use, how to set your prices so you don't lose money, how to pick a place for the stand so people can get to it and there aren't a billion other stands next to it, suggest other products to sell along with lemonade to increase your profits, and basic budgeting. At the end of the day every kid would get a fancy certificate that said "City Approved Lemonade Stand" to hang on their stand. Make it real lighthearted and fun. If the kids do what they're taught in the class they'll make money that summer and have a good time in the process.
