He has been flooded with messages from people saying they were going to kill him because they believe they will get paid from the slush fund for doing that.

Severe punishment needs to occur.

(604 posts)They tried to kill Michael Fanone on January 6th and almost succeed. When he testified at the trials of those who attacked him, the rioter's families spit on him and called him names, in spite of the video evidence.

(885 posts)IMO he seemed subdued. He just looked into the camera motionless. Of course he had much to say about the absurdity of the whole thing with this slush fund but today he just seemed resigned to the fact that the J6ers will get a pay out and he is tired of fighting it. IMO and I hope I am wrong.

So, nonsense. In my opinion.
/family died on both sides, great great walked across states after release from captivity in Indiana
/we died on both sides in Ireland too
My own Father fought in a civil war. It took everything from him, eventually.
Respectfuly, DU is the wrong place to tout for civil war.

(2,045 posts)I have marched in rallies for decades to uphold and defend the US against violence, war, and the and evisceration of our democracy. My husband was a legislative recruiter for the Democratic party in our state, a mayor who ran on the principles of equality and unity, and the betterment of all people. As a professor I taught my students the value of peaceful resistance to protect our democracy. It has been my life's goal and purpose.
I do not apologize for rightly fearing what the lawless right may do to undermine our democracy.

And I share the same dread of the lawless among us. Especially those who allowed themselves to be taken in by the donald. None of em seem to have ANY recollection of the many, Many, MANY lies hes told, throughout his deceitful life and right up to right now.

(37,169 posts)This is what you said: " I sometimes think this country is so far beyond corrupt that the only thing that will save it (perhaps) is a civil war. "
That is not the same as: "I do not apologize for rightly fearing what the lawless right may do to undermine our democracy."
If what you fear is that the lawless might engage in war, then say it. Don't say that the only thing that will save it is a civil war.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
