BREAKING: Fox News just reported that Pete Hegseth fired United States Secretary of the Navy John Phelan because Phelan would not ignore a federal judge's orders!
"Hegseth and Phelan reportedly butted heads when Phelan refused to ignore a recent federal judges ruling that said punishing Senator Mark Kelly for making a video which he reminded military officers of their constitutional duty to not to not follow illegal orders would violate his First Amendment rights."

(25,251 posts)Oh my. I also read that some of their "anchors" are not letting members of the administration blame everything on Biden anymore. Well, well, this could get interesting.

(597 posts)Hegseth just does what Trump tells him to, which is why this man with no real experience or talent was hired. Hegseth won't go against Trump even though Trump will eventually blame the Iran war on Hegseth.

(3,843 posts)Kegsbreath jealous over Phelan's closeness w/IQ47, and IQ47 mad because Phelan didn't build him the battleships he wanted yet? PFFFFT!!!
I knew it had to do with illegal orders in some sense.
What a fucking clownshow this regime is

(53,281 posts)They ignore all the other issues in this scenario. Like Hegseth being a drunken bully. Or that Trump liked Phelan. etc.

(42,008 posts)What did Hegseth swear to uphold when he was sworn in? It wasn't the Constitution, apparently. Even the Repuke-MAGA business execs (which is how Mr. Phelan received his appointment) know the law better than Pete Hegseth.

(4,022 posts). . . that Trump fired Phelan because he told Trump that Trump's "battleship" could not be built.
https://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/23/us/politics/trump-navy-secretary.html
Theyll be the fastest, the biggest and by far 100 times more powerful than any battleship ever built, Mr. Trump boasted at a news conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate and resort in Florida a few days before Christmas. Mr. Phelan, a billionaire investor who has a home near the club, stood next to the president as he made the announcement.
Mr. Phelans job was to deliver the first of Mr. Trumps battleships by 2028.
On Wednesday, Mr. Trump fired Mr. Phelan, who had struggled to come up with a plan to deliver the ships on the nearly impossible timeline that Mr. Trump has demanded, senior defense and administration officials said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive personnel matters.

(60,324 posts)They probably want him to announce his candidacy way too early, so that they have time to destroy him.
If so, they might as well not bother. Mark said a month ago that he had in no way decided on running, and that even if he did reach such a decision, any hint of it would not be made known for at least a year. I guess now, Id have to say eleven months, since he told me this a month ago, but its not coming in 2026 in any case. Trumps Breath should listen to more Tom Petty songs, specifically, I Wont Back Down. Maybe men who are rock solid in their convictions are incomprehensible to men whose stances change every five minutes.
