I think this regime would be thrilled if they could bring back workhouses as a condition for healthcare for the disabled and working poor.

‘At this festive season of the year, Mr. Scrooge,’ said the gentleman, taking up a pen, ‘it is more than usually desirable that we should make some slight provision for the Poor and Destitute, who suffer greatly at the present time. Many thousands are in want of common necessaries; hundreds of thousands are in want of common comforts, sir.’

‘Are there no prisons?’ asked Scrooge
.
‘Plenty of prisons,’ said the gentleman, laying down the pen again.

‘And the Union workhouses?’ demanded Scrooge. ‘Are they still in operation?’

‘They are. Still,’ returned the gentleman, ‘I wish I could say they were not.’

‘The Treadmill and the Poor Law are in full vigour, then?’ said Scrooge.

‘Both very busy, sir.’

‘Oh! I was afraid, from what you said at first, that some-thing had occurred to stop them in their useful course,’ said Scrooge. ‘I’m very glad to hear it.’

‘Under the impression that they scarcely furnish Christian cheer of mind or body to the multitude,’ returned the gentleman, ‘a few of us are endeavouring to raise a fund to buy the Poor some meat and drink. and means of warmth.

We choose this time, because it is a time, of all others, when Want is keenly felt, and Abundance rejoices. What shall I put you down for?’

‘Nothing!’ Scrooge replied.

‘You wish to be anonymous?’

‘I wish to be left alone,’ said Scrooge. ‘Since you ask me what I wish, gentlemen, that is my answer. I don’t make merry myself at Christmas and I can’t afford to make idle people merry. I help to support the establishments I have mentioned — they cost enough; and those who are badly off must go there.’

‘Many can’t go there; and many would rather die.’

‘If they would rather die,’ said Scrooge, ‘they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population.

Besides — excuse me — I don’t know that.’

‘But you might know it,’ observed the gentleman

They - the GOP, the Project 2025 backers and the Tech Bros have all been dancing around.actuslly saying "cleaning up the risk pool" since the ACA started looking like it was going to become a reality.
The whole reason why the ACA was forced through was that health insurance was already making health care so limited and unaffordable, the US was probably about 4 years from average people either forcing Single Payer or turning Luigi on Insurance Company executives, Lobbyists, and potentially politicians who were calling Medicare and Public Health initiatives either the slippery slope to Communism or Ponzi Schemes.
It's all about making sure "those people and the other parasitic losers" who can't afford to pay premium for wealthy doctors and expensive research clinics just "go away" and die somewhere out of sight

I haven't heard anything nearly as nasty, or strange that rfk Jr ended up doing. I don't consider drug use strange.

Hey, people don't know everything; nor should they. In general people are entitled to a private life. Unless they're doing terrible things.

She was not naive or unsophisticated.
So I assume a lot has been kept hidden by the press.

There was a lot of drug addiction, wild behavior, expulsions from school, etc.
Two of Ethel and Bobby's kids died young.

RFK Jr is obviously a serious drug addict and psychotic.
He appears to be the worst, at least what we see in public.

The first thing I look at is - he was 14 when his father died.

Was there a tendency toward importance and narcissism in a family where he may have been treated like a Golden Child? I dunno.

Were there dynamics at play in the family structure where he felt like he wasn't good enough? Perhaps.

Did someone pick on him as a child? I can't think of any obvious suspects...but he shows some signs.

How much did the abyss of drugs take him into his dark places. Likely a lot!

But, the bottom line is - his behavior at this ripe old age is a choice.

IMHO

There are plenty of people who have suffered horrible loss and trauma as children.
But go on to live a good, decent life.

RFK Jr had every avenue open to him.
Detox, rehab, therapy.
Instead he choses to live a very dark, evil life.
Responsible for the deaths of many.

I think he kept a diary about his exploits.

That kind of obsession is difficult for most of us to understand.

I’ve posted several times about seniors potentially targeted by this administration’s cuts to the healthcare infrastructure. Insurance costs keep going up while increasing medical bills are incurred with mediocre healthcare.
