D-uhh moment about magats in Congress and the Cabinet

Maybe this is just galaxy-class obvious, but it occurred to me that all these magats in the government who are sucking up to him are just hoping for a pardon.

They started out supporting him and have continued to do so even when they (supposedly, allegedly, presumably) realize that they are in deep shit because of what he's doing, including lying and ignoring laws. But they can't back down because of... ah... retribution and fear of being voted out, so they have to hang in there and double down and keep kissing his ass in hopes of being pardoned later.

Too far-fetched?
