VIRGINIA BANS PRO-CONFEDERATE LICENSE PLATES: This week, Governor Abigail Spanberger signed a bill BANNING the renewal of pro-Confederate license plates.

The symbolism is powerful: Richmond, Virginia, is the former capital of the Confederacy. Now, it’s also where Governor Spanberger banned license plates that whitewash slavery and the dark history of the Civil War.

In America, we do not honor the Confederacy—we honor the Union.

Governor Spanberger, thank you for your leadership!

about it -- apparently the confederate flag on plates was already ban

Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger signed legislation in April 2026 (HB 1344) to ban the renewal of specialty license plates honoring Robert E. Lee and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. While existing plates can be used until their expiration date, this action effectively phases out the last official Confederate-themed plates in Virginia.

April 2026: Governor Spanberger signs bill to stop renewal of Confederate-themed plates, following a 2024 veto of similar legislation by former Governor Glenn Youngkin.
August 2015: The Virginia DMV recalled license plates featuring the Confederate battle flag logo following a U.S. Supreme Court decision, but allowed plates without the flag (such as the Sons of Confederate Veterans and Robert E. Lee plates) to remain.

Did not realize this bill was in the General Assembly and now it's signed.

I checked a few websites and Facebook pages of some assholes I know -- they are losing their minds -- which is no big loss..

I'm in the south, and there's not much I hate worse than those confederate flags...except maybe the people that wave them.

idiots won't go away! And the confederate flag is a symbol of pride for these freaks! They are unwilling to learn or think or feel like real human beings.
