She never does look natural to me, always seems very "curated." Of course I don't see her when she rolls out of bed in the morning or when she's doing housework.

I won't scoff at the idea that she has faced some psychological trauma in her life (if that is what you are suggesting) but many people with deep trauma can express genuine positive emotions, accompanied by appropriate emotional displays such as a smile.

She may have realized she’s married to an anchor that’s about to be thrown overboard.

Perhaps she is concerned about retaliation.

And she’s been with him and around him long enough to know at least some of what he’s capable of doing.

And I’m sure she’s aware of the perks she gets by being First Lady. And all of that would disappear if she left him. I suspect he’d make damn sure of that.
