The Military Draft Is Back for 18-25 Year Olds

But don't worry, you won't have to fill out any paperwork. You are automatically registered for mobilization.
This should alarm every eligible voter who is eligible to be drafted and get them politically active.

This is just a change to automatic registration.

The draft has not been reactivated, and no one is going to get an induction notice.

That would take an act of congress with allocated funding for draft boards etc. (Barron couldn’t get his deferment without a draft board).

If Trump attempted to reactivate the draft, Dems would win supermajorities in both the house and senate in the midterms.

It’s not going to happen.

It’s out there in the ether and many will believe it which is GOOD for us and bad for MAGA. Sometimes things just work out that way. Those with even a modicum of street smarts can see this. 🤦‍♂️

When they do that I will take to the streets and tell them to get back with me when they have passed the Equal Rights Amendment.
It has only been 103 years since Alice Paul started the process.

Failing to register is already a Federal felony

Punishment is a fine of up to $250,000 and/or 5 years in jail.

Presidential Proclamation 4771 on July 2 , 1980

A Proclamation
Section 3 of the Military Selective Service Act, as amended (50 U.S.C. App. 453), provides that male citizens of the United States and other male persons residing in the United States who are between the ages of 18 and 26, except those exempted by Sections 3 and 6(a) of the Military Selective Service Act, must present themselves for registration at such time or times and place or places, and in such manner as determined by the President. Section 6(k) provides that such exceptions shall not continue after the cause for the exemption ceases to exist.

The Congress of the United States has made available the funds (H.J. Res. 521, approved by me on June 27, 1980), which are needed to initiate this registration, beginning with those born on or after January 1, 1960.

Now, Therefore, I, Jimmy Carter, President of the United States of America, by the authority vested in me by the Military Selective Service Act, as amended (50 U.S.C. App. 451 et seq.), do hereby proclaim as follows:

1-1. Persons to be Registered and Days of Registration.

1-101. Male citizens of the United States and other males residing in the United States, unless exempted by the Military Selective Service Act, as amended, who were born on or after January 1, 1960, and who have attained their eighteenth birthday, shall present themselves for registration in the manner and at the time and places as hereinafter provided.

But I was among the first.
I distinctly remember thinking of the 18 year olds before me that were drafted into the Vietnam Nam war and how young I felt for that to happen at that age.
