Do Democrats have one? The Party Line is the broad agenda of a party. This is set out by party leadership. In house votes, very few members vote against their party's stated position and the party excercises internal discipline of it's members to ensure the party speaks as one.
When a member votes against the stated agenda of their party, they are said to have "crossed the floor". This is not something that happens often in a parliamentary system. So what happened with Fetterman and many others?
The concept of crossing the floor happens twenty times a week in the Capitol. These people should be shunned and exposed for what they are; disloyal and contrary. But they just dig in and keep right on obstructing.
If the Democrats had a party line would there be less liklihood of members voting against it?

(13,136 posts)...by denying them access to Votebuilder (see the article). The four targeted all lost to a progressive primary opponent
Carla Cunningham (Cunningham 22% Sadler 70%)
Nasif Majeed (Majeed 26% Levy: 69%)
Shelly Willingham (Willingham 44%, Smith 56%)
Michael Wray (Pierce 64%, Wray 36%)*
*Progressive incumbent Rodney Pierce was challenged from the right by former legislator Michael Wray. Wray was denied access to votebuilder for "crossing the floor" when he was in office.

Marshall Terry: There are four candidates being singled out here. Weï'll get to them in a moment. First this resource they're being denied access to is software called VoteBuilder. What does it do?
Bryan Anderson: It's a voter contact software that Democrats use typically for tracking volunteers, identifying possible donors, developing lists of possible supporters, and helping mobilize and turn those people out. So it's a critical grassroots organizing resource for the party.
Terry: Which Democratic lawmakers is the party denying access to VoteBuilder and why specifically?
Anderson: In Mecklenburg County, Reps. Carla Cunningham and Nasif Majeed. There's also Shelly Willingham, who's a current state lawmaker over in the eastern part of the state, as well as former state Rep. Michael Wray from Northampton County. The reason that all four are sort of being targeted here is because they have voted to override vetoes from Gov. Stein or then-Gov. Roy Cooper.

We need more of this sort brass knuckles response to people who call themselves Democrats, but repeatedly defect to advance destructive Republican bills, or who stand in the way of legislation that improves the lives of their constituents.
Anderson Clayton is amazing. And she's only 28. One of the next gen Democrats who are reshaping the party for the better!
