(53,042 posts)that I forgot what it meant, if I ever knew. Thanks.

(1,479 posts)Apparently it's a trendy thing to do rather than simply typing "Trump" (or DT or DJT for those who can't bring themselves to use his actual name). It rather performative and except for the "in crowd" and the "cool kids" it's a bit exclusionary and not very conducive to conversation and an exchange of information. At times, you really do need a decoder ring and decoder book to know who the players are.

(53,042 posts)Meanwhile, people keep making up new ones. It would be easier if people just spelled out what they mean, so as not to appear to be exclusionary.
Plus the writer might save a fraction of a second, but the reader may have to go hunting for the meaning. If it's worth saying, surely it is worth spelling it out.

(1,479 posts)... and youve provided none. I'm not going to spend time debunking a conspiracy theory that hasn't even met the basic threshold of proof.
You made the claim that the state is censoring this forum... the responsibility is on you to provide evidence for it. I dont have to prove a negative to remain skeptical of an unverified theory.
I don't have time for this. Bye.

(101,813 posts)Nothing can deter me from that task. It is my life's work. And in all candor I can't bring myself to say his name or refer to him as president, and using his initials is a dignity i only bestow on presidents I resprect like FDR and JFK.

(53,042 posts)but more often than not, I just see laziness and bad habits. I have seen some that were so obscure that the writer might have been the only person who knew what it represented.
That said, I generally have no problem with many of the acronyms for TSF. Most of us know who it is about and personally, I try to avoid using his name. In that regard, I'm a tad paranoid about saying too much on social media, being we know we are being watched. That wouldn't apply to ones such as these however:
ALOTBSOL: Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life
BTDTGTTS: Been There, Done That, Got The T-Shirt
DWISNWID: Do What I Say, Not What I Do
FMTYEWTK: Far More Than You Ever Wanted To Know
IITYWTMWYBMAD: If I Tell You What This Means, Will You Buy Me A Drink?
BOPUS: Buy Online, Pick Up in Store

(53,042 posts)That's okay, I think we all know who it is now, though I keep forgetting what some of the letters stand for. Apparently there is more than one meaning for TSF, but I think I like The Slob Father best.
There have been others where I knew what they stood for in the beginning and down the road I forgot.
Get the f*ck outta here. 😁

President JOE BIDEN has a reputation for salty language behind closed doors. But it nearly slipped out in public during his speech at Valley Forge last month to mark the third anniversary of the Jan. 6 insurrection. Animated and angry, he derided DONALD TRUMP and his followers for drawing glee from political violence.
At his rally, he jokes about an intruder, whipped up by the Big Trump Lie, taking a hammer to Paul Pelosis skull, Biden said.
And he thinks thats funny, the president continued. He laughed about it. What a sick
Biden let his voice trail off as the crowd cheered and chuckled.
In private, he doesnt stop short.

(53,042 posts)And meanwhile that is still a hell of a lot of people - 35 out of every 100!
Of course, give him a chance. He'll do something to piss off even more people. It feels like it is his goal.

(25,571 posts)At least 100 million people in our country still support F47, even now. As numbers recede further, the remainder will be those most prone to racial and sectarian violence, and they are well armed. This will be a long-term problem that I expect to extend well past F47's death.
PatSeg
(53,042 posts)As a percentage 35% sounds fairly low, but go shopping or to a ball game and look around, 35 out of 100 of those people think the current madness is okay.
I also think about those who will stubbornly hang on after 47 is gone and it is very frightening. They may recede from public view for awhile, but they'll still stockpile guns, build compounds, start more private militias, and occasionally pull crap like the Oklahoma City bombing or Jan 6.
It has been a problem that has been swept aside for many years and we've learned the hard way not to ignore such people. They won't stay in the shadows forever. Meanwhile, we've had republicans who actually catered to these extremists because they'll do anything for a vote.

(25,571 posts)Even 10,000 armed lunatics bent on destroying the nation for revenge on their cult leader would be more than enough to overwhelm law enforcement in many states. 100,000 might well be able to outright seize control of a state government for a few months. Some states could even welcome such behavior as "liberation" or something, posting up these armed militias as enforcers on every street corner.
And 100,000,000 insurrectionist militants? Well, they could get a lot done, and they'd barely need to coordinate. Someone qualified better be putting in the Big Think about how to re-integrate society in the wake of this disaster, assuming any of us survive.
PatSeg
(53,042 posts)The problem has been with us for a very long time and so little has been done to solve it.
Yes, that many militants could bring about a civil war and being they are better armed than most people, they have a big advantage over the rest of us.
Of course, it doesn't help that Trump pardoned all the Jan 6 insurrectionists. Now they are even more emboldened and possibly more organized and very angry.
