Tai Chi chair

Are you getting bombarded with pitches for "Tai Chi chair?"

I confess that a few months ago I did a few searches online for some Tai Chi classes/instruction where I live. Unfortunately, there is nothing in this area. No one. Martial arts? Sure. Yoga classes? No problem. But instruction in some Tai Chi? Sorry, pal. But, as you may expect, after you do a search like that, suddenly you get all kinds of pitches for what you were searching for in your social media feed. (I confess, I'm talking Facebook here).

Every day I get 5-10 pitches for "Tai Chi chair." Get toned and drop 10% of your body weight? By exercising in a chair? Sounds great, right? Invariably it takes 5-10 minutes just to go thru all their screens to get your "personalized plan," (while forking over a bit of personal data in the process.)

And then you discover the pricing.

Don't want to get too long-winded here, but has anyone here on DU tried Tai Chi chair? If so, how did it work out?

My SCAM ALERT is ringing.

(ok, maybe this isn't the best forum for this?)

I figured there had to be some free stuff similar to what they want to charge for, but sometimes it's like a needle in a haystack of needles.

Gracias.

I don’t use the chair and I also walk regularly and ride my stationary bike. Some of their arm stretches are great for our backs.

I don’t click shit so no scamming ads here. I just look at their folks and and steal ideas.
My brother started karate and judo as a ten year old, earned a black belt and still does martial arts exercises. He loves cycling and still rides a real mountain bike. He looks great for 72.

...and we have a membership to Planet Fitness, which kinda sucks. Too many busted machines.

I just need to be less lazy.

I get the feeling that naps won't help, but I sure like to take naps. LOL

Thanks for your input.

with a lot of stretching. Very good for everyone (seek medical advise). Start out slow. Stretching how tos are on-line in abundance. Helps with injury avoidance greatly.

Tai-chi is a martial art, with fluid movement in direction and redirection of strikes. It's not my forte, as I was trained in kenpo/karate mix.

I'd kinda forgotten that Tai Chi is in fact a martial art, but I looked into the businesses that teach martial arts in this area and they list all sorts of instruction in martial arts like karate, jiu-jitsu, taekwondo, krav mega, but none of them mention Tai Chi.

In addition to Tai Chi Chair, now I am seeing Tai Chi Walking....even Tai Chi Golf.

Thanks for your response.

13. For me, I wouldn't try anything listed as "tai-chi" other than the martial art

The only thing I would try is meditation, which should include the movements. It's slow, and methodical, but it goes through the katas.

Take a free class once a week at our local library. Fully admit I don't keep up with my own online practice.

It's such good exercise - and a full hour where you can't think about even your grocery list.
