CA-06: Rep. Kevin Kiley will run in California's 6th Congressional District
PLACER COUNTY, Calif. Republican Congressman Kevin Kiley will be running in California's 6th District. It'll set him up for a primary election clash with candidates such as Craig DeLuz, Sacramento County District Attorney Thien Ho, Richard Pan, and more.
The boundaries of Kiley's current district were upended by the nations partisan redistricting war, specifically California's Prop 50, which split it into six pieces. He pulled papers for both the fifth and sixth districts, and, in a statement posted to X, he said the fifth district showed a favorable outlook in a safe district. However, he said he instead opted for the sixth, in part because it includes counties where he was born and raised.
"And at the end of the day, as much as I love the communities in the 5th District that I represent now and as excited as I was about the new ones seeking office in a district that doesnt include my hometown didnt feel right."
Kiley will be seeking his third term in the House of Representatives.
