Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's deposition before the House Oversight Committee was paused Thursday afternoon after Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) took an unauthorized photo of Clinton and sent it to conservative influencer Benny Johnson.
Why it matters: Taking a photo during an ongoing deposition and sharing it on social media is a violation of House rules.
Zoom in: "The hearing has been paused briefly while we figure out where the photo came from and why possibly members of Congress are violating House rules," Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill told reporters.

(3,579 posts)She's a Republican and they are never censured. They do whatever the f@ck they want.
However, Hillary will probably be held in contempt because of the pattern of her sweater.
The whole Republican party is power-mad charade.

(69,171 posts)The photo is a "gotcha!" angle making Clinton look bad, and the caption implied that she's guilty of something.

(9,611 posts)That may have been the intent but just because they are so damn dumb to think a picture would do anything.

In another post, Johnson said the photo was authorized.
"Rep. Boebert gave me permission to post a photo she took before the hearing started with credit," Johnson said in a later post.
Both emphases added by me. Boebert has neither the authority to take the photo nor disseminate said photo for distribution by herself or anyone else, afaik. Dumbasses.
