Here is a letter by a Christian about this horrible administration that has been published
"We are facing a cruel and oppressive government; citizens and immigrants being demonized, disappeared, and even killed; the erosion of hard-won rights and freedoms; and a calculated effort to reverse Americas growing racial and ethnic diversity all of which are pushing us toward authoritarian and imperial rule. What confronts us is not only an endangered democracy and the rise of tyranny. It is also a Christian faith corrupted by the heretical ideology of white Christian nationalism, and a church that has often failed to equip its members to model Jesuss teachings and fulfill its prophetic calling as a humanitarian, compassionate, and moral compass for society.
Therefore, as Christians in the United States, representing the breadth of Christian traditions and one part of our nations religiously plural society, we are compelled to speak out more boldly at this time.
Freedoms and rights once assumed to be secure are being stripped away, redefined, or selectively applied. Decades-old civil rights protections are being dismantled. Truth is being replaced by lies and propaganda. Governance is being hollowed out and replaced with corruption, loyalty tests, intimidation, and the normalization of lawlessness. The architecture of democracy and the rights secured by the separation of powers are being eroded from within, while we are told to accept it as law, order, or Gods will.
As Christians, we must never preach nationalism as discipleship, confuse American and Christian identity with whiteness, or mistake allegiance to modern-day Caesars for faithfulness to Christ. We must never surrender our prophetic voice by aligning with powers and principalities rather than with the One who calls us to be purveyors of justice and righteousness.

(15,259 posts)Lying and stealing, propaganda and corruption, are the fallback of mediocre people trying to pretend they're far more powerful, talented or important.
The community lead by a liar and/or thief will not thrive or survive.

(69,158 posts)Christian Nationalism is, essentially, Nazism. And it's huge in the U.S. right now. It's the reason Trump was elected, it's the reason the Republican-controlled Congress does nothing, it's the reason the news media has turned against democracy.
Meanwhile, old fashioned Christianity is on the defensive. Pastors in mainline Protestant churches continue to follow the old rules and avoid discussing politics. They are no match for the huge mega MAGA "nondenominational" right wing Christian Nationalist "prosperity gospel" white-supremacist -but-we're-nice-to-everybody (sure you are, as long as they know they're place and don't get uppity) congregations that tell their members how to vote.
Either mainstream Christian leaders wake up and fight back or they'll lose their whole religion to this catastrophe.

(6,315 posts)Since Jesus was supposedly nailed to his cross, Christians have not been shy about using violence to push their agenda. And white Christian nationalism has been around in this country for a long time. The south used Christianity has justification for slavery. And the KKK used Christianity as a justification for white supremacy. Evenangelicals have used Christianity has justification for their anti-gay, anti women's reproductive rights, anti-imigrant, anti-vaxxer, anti-science and all of the other anti sentiments.
So when yet another Christians steps forward and is aghast at what their fellow "Christians" are doing, you'll have to excuse me if I say move along, because you all have incrementally caused this mess.

(12,477 posts)He's an unapologetic Christian, a seminary student, who has been calling out the false prophets and fake Christians. Christian Nationalism has nothing to do with Christianity; it's merely a front for the political power grab going on right now. Similar to the KKK, Christian Nationalists hide beneath a cloak of righteousness. They're flat-out liars who will use any means necessary to consolidate their power and authority.
Over everyone.
Talarico is drawing crowds. People are listening to his warnings. For the right-wing, this young seminary student is a clear and present danger. Trump and his Flying Monkey Brigade cannot win if the Christian-right deserts them because the 'coalition' is fracturing in other sectors.
The Texas primary on March 3rd should be very interesting.
