(955 posts)As I watched, I told my wife I was rooting for the USA, and feeling guilty about it... because of Trump. I would have been okay with the Canadian team winning, because of Trump. But the guys on team USA played with tons of heart. Team Canada was a LOT more talented. If the two teams played ten times, Canada would win seven times, maybe eight. But the men of the red, white and blue., especially goalie Conner Hellebuyck, played their hearts out. It was great sport.
I refused to allow Trump to ruin it for me. Even so, he almost did.

The FBI chief has was previously accused of using federal government resources to take “extravagant” trips with his girlfriend, allegedly earning him the derisive nickname “Make-a-Wish Director” behind closed doors.
But on Sunday he posted photos of himself grinning alongside members of the men’s hockey team mere hours after a spokesperson for his agency blasted the mere suggestion that Patel had used government resources for a personal vacation.
He was also captured celebrating in the locker room on team member Dylan Larkin’s Instagram Live.
It’s an awkward look for the director, whose agency is already battling perceptions that he is unqualified for the job and unserious with his management of the agency and use of its resources.......
Last year, Patel was accused of using a government Gulfstream jet for personal use to fly around and see his girlfriend, country music singer Alexis Wilkins
Just two years earlier, Patel — then a podcaster and right-wing influencer — had complained that FBI Director Chris Wray was benefitting from "private jet travel that he pays for with taxpayer dollars to hop around the country.”
Now it’s Patel facing that same accusation and claiming that he uses the plane less than his predecessors, while defending their usage for personal trips. Among the reported excursions, Patel has used the jet for a golfing trip in Scotland as well as to go hunting in Texas, along with “date nights” with Wilkins.

(30,039 posts)They're absolutely hated by most hockey fans. They have a podcast where they've made nasty comments about (you name it, they've probably said it). They really hate female fans and they hate women's hockey.
I know Quinn Hughes billeted with them as a teenager and speaks to them but I know there's no way the Hughes family share similar views on women and hockey, considering their mother is Ellen Weinberg Hughes.

Several videos emerged on social media showing Patel in the locker room after the game, but one in particular drew outrage from current and former FBI agents. It depicted Patel pouring what appeared to be beer down his throat, spraying some of it in the air and screaming in celebration as a player put a gold medal around his neck.
Eight former FBI and Justice Department officials sent MS NOW a copy of the video, which they said was drawing outrage as it rocketed around FBI and DOJ circles. ......
FBI spokesman Ben Williamson told MS NOW on Thursday that Patel was going to Milan for a series of business meetings, and it was unfair to describe the trip as having to do with hockey or pleasure.
“Your rag outlet wrote that he went to hang out at the Olympics on the taxpayer dime – even when provided information that your theory was false,” Williamson posed Saturday on X. He did not respond to a request for comment about the video.
The MS NOW weekend show covered this story. They had fun pointing out that the Patel's spokeperson yelled at the media and then ten minutes later Patel posted this tweet

Patel evidently takes all Sundays off for some sort of hockey league.

(8,382 posts)He went to party with the first USA hockey team to win the Gold since 1980. He is drinking and acting insane. No one is going to be pissed at this and no one seems to care about the money spent (unless a Democrat was the one spending it).
My problem is this will be used as Maga Fodder for their propaganda ministry. USA Hockey is MAGA Hockey and not USA Hockey. Those guys are wealthy professional hockey players. I doubt many of them are concerned with anything other than getting their skates sharpened at the right cut.
