My first (and not a fan) letter to Matt Groening

To matthew.groening@gmail.com

The Simpsons has been one of my VERY favorite shows since the early 1990s. Sometimes I realize I feel like I can’t live without it; it’s been a consistent source of entertainment and dare I say comfort for decades for me. I feel betrayed now especially thinking about how I stood up for the show many years ago despite so many people I knew being disgusted by what they felt was a lack of family values portrayed.

I was shocked to my core to hear Matt is on the Epstein list 24 times. You could not imagine my horror to read that Matt was described as Jeffrey Epstein’s “pal” by Epstein’s (late) victim Virginia Giuffre. That among Epstein’s possessions was a picture of Bart Matt drew for him. That made me want to cry (angry tears). I hope that this writer telling you their feelings matters.

I read that Matt was on Epstein’s private plane (known as the “Lolita Express” (retch). And that while Matt was on it, Virginia Guiffre, only 16 at the time, gave Matt a foot massage. Makes me sick to think about. Why was he on the plane and why would he accept any massage from such a young girl?

Also read that Matt was introduced to Mohamed Yuunis by someone in the “Epstein-sphere”.

Did the plot of the 2000 Simpsons episode “The Computer Wore Menace Shoes” hint at what Matt knew was going on?

I find Matt’s connections with the depraved monster known as Jeffrey Epstein reprehensible, repulsive and unforgivable. I sincerely appreciated and felt such positive feelings about Matt for decades but that’s over now. Matt had the power to create a colossal franchise of which I was a big fan. However, I don’t think he has the power now to get me to like it anymore. I plan to avoid it like the plague.

D.J., former Simpsons and Matt Groening fan.
