NBC: Trump administration eases limits on coal plant emissions of mercury and other toxins.

I really don’t like that man. What a shit ball of a person and this will not bring back coal as the
big factor in electrical production. The utility companies have spent billions in switching their power
power plants from coal to gas because even though burning gas is a wicked source of pollution and
greenhouse gases it is cheaper, cleaner, and much easier to use than coal. Those utility companies
are not going back to coal. Although I do support dumping the byproducts from the burning of coal
on Trump’s golf courses.

***************

“Coal plants are the largest single human source of mercury pollutants. The mercury emitted later falls in rain or simply by gravity, entering the food chain through fish and other items that people consume.

Snip

“The Trump EPA’s action follows the rule of law and will reduce of cost of generating baseload power, lowering costs and improving reliability for consumers,” EPA Deputy Administrator David Fotouhi said in a statement. The agency said the change should* save hundreds of millions of dollars.

The final rule reverts the industry to standards first established in 2012 by the Obama administration that have reduced mercury emissions by nearly 90%. The Biden administration had sought to tighten those standards even further after the first Trump administration had moved to undermine them.

…. the Sun (until our Sun becomes a red giant) but humans don’t have to be part of the planet.
What pisses me off about Trump and coal is the science is known and has been known for 50
plus years and we already have the technology to make green energy right now. I went to school
in S.E. Ohio … coal country … and I know coal kills. It kills the miners, the environment, the atmosphere,
and the areas around the coal mines, the watershed, and 100s of miles away in tiny particles that get
into people’s lungs.

doubt it will make much difference before we can take back the WH and slap those rules right back in place.

Power companies, this is temporary. Don't do anything stupid.
