(31,827 posts)we already know he is going to lie his ass off.
The only thing that could happen that would make me watch is if he suddenly keeled over and died from a heart attack or some other instantly fatal disease.

(12,845 posts)Having to see his vile face is bad enough, always flanked by assholes. But hell no will I survive watching him bull shit and demand hate with the two biggest assholes in the nation flanking him, smirking and jumping up and down in support of him demolishing our country.
It would be more entertaining watching Bondi fucking Bannon smirking her ass off and all the warts, boils and parasites in full view under Bannons 5 shirts.
Wednesdays
(22,129 posts)ALTERNATIVES TO THE SOTU ADDRESS:
(starting) 7:00 p.m. EST State of the Swamp
At the National Press Club, Washington, D.C.
Lots of celebrity guests will speak. Live streaming event.
https://www.defiance.org/sotu
(starting) 8:00 p.m. EST Peoples State of the Union
Sponsored by moveon.org
Lots of lawmakers who will boycott Trumps speech will participate. Live streaming event.

It's quite possible that one or both of these will also be broadcast on PBS and/or C-SPAN.

(101,474 posts)I am sure I won't watch the whole thing, if I do try to watch any of it.
The only reason to watch it is to see if he rages himself into a stroke on camera.
Might not be worth the time.

But it still might not be worth watching all the rest of it, even if 'it' happened in the first five minutes. My tolerance level for that one is really low.

(22,129 posts)...there will be at least two alternatives to the SOTU that you can tune into online.
(starting) 7:00 p.m. EST State of the Swamp
At the National Press Club, Washington, D.C.
Lots of celebrity guests will speak. Live streaming event.

(38,436 posts)If his mouth is open, he's lying.
All I need to know about is what he does. If he signs an executive order, I'll read it - because that document has some legal effect. What comes out of his mouth is meaningless, and designed solely to be inflammatory - or to stroke his own ego. No need to raise my blood pressure listening to him.

DET
(2,444 posts)At least until I cant stand it anymore. I want to see if he freaks out if the survivors show up (kudos to them if they do). Also want to see the Democratic response to the nonstop barrage of lies. And theres always the possibility that his mind or body will explode at some point during the night. Of course, it will be difficult watching the loathsome Republicans cheer and clap like seals, but theres always the mute button.

(3,052 posts)I don't know if I can sit through the whole thing and pay attention though because his ramblings get boring and I can only take so much of it when he gets off track, which is most of the time.
I know a lot of people will refuse, but I don't allow Trump to control me like that. I want to know what he's up to. I even watch Fox news at times. I like to understand my opposition rather than just casting them aside and deeming them irrelevant.
If everyone including our leaders handled him that way, we would be winning right now instead of trying to recover from our losses.
Will I gain knowledge from watching it? Probably not, but it is yet another look into his vision, where he plans to go and how he plans to get there. We need to know that.

I know he's going to lie. He'll talk about the "great economy" and Rs will applaud at the fabrication.
He'll take credit for the Dow 50,000 AI bubble though he has nothing to do with it whatsoever. And, the Rs will applaud
He'll victory lap the "success" of mass deportations and never mention that they are quota-ing people, not just getting rid of criminals. And, the Rs will applaud.
If Epstein will comes up, he'll bleat about the "Democrat hoax", claim to be exonerated; and the Rs will applaud.
Why would I bother to watch? I know how it starts & ends

(9,513 posts)I don't trust the media to identify what is and is not significant. That said, my recent experience is that my determination to get my own impression and form my own opinion is at war with my gag reflex. I will probably watch the start and stalk out of the room when my patience is exhausted.
