We are not In woke we trust, we are In God we trust, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said during the event
____
Back at the NRB conference, Wilkins wasn't the only one who performed. Joining her was the 101st Airborne Division's color guard, which was forced to attend the event and watch Hegseth deliver his remarks to the National Religious Broadcasters group.
Tickets for the event ran between $300 and $750, according to the Daily Beast.
Those willing to shell out hundreds of dollars were allowed to see Hegseth rant about how half the country is "godless" and run through anti-abortion and anti-trans talking points.
Gone is godless and divisive DEI, gone is gender-bending equity and quotas, gone is climate change worship to a false god, he said. We are one military, one fighting force, one nation under God. We are not In woke we trust, we are In God we trust.
He hit on abortion during the speech, claiming that protecting the life of an unborn baby is not political, its biblical, and adding that Trump is working every day to end taxpayer support of abortion and to end abortion for illegal immigrants at Veterans Affairs hospitals and service member abortion-related travel expenses at the War Department.

(19,104 posts)Not sure if it is even true any more, and I don't recall the details, but in the past - if I recall correctly - female military on active duty who got pregnant, had the full range of medical options. Meaning the military paid for abortion care in some cases. While I disagree FULLY with the so-called "biblical" (it's not) anti-abortion stance, and the ridiculous focus some so-called Christians put on judging and controlling people on THIS issue above so-many-more issues where Christ was QUITE clear - the fact that military health care funding could be used for abortion care is obviously waving a red flag in front of the "christian" nationalist bull.

(30,108 posts)The only thing it definitively says is that life begins at first breath. Which is certainly not how a fetus grows. I wish the people who love quoting the Bible actually read the Bible, instead of believing everything their pastor tells them.
