I'm sitting here writing tonight's letter on this weekend's Munich Security Conference, where the Trump administration has taken the position that we should throw out all the U.S. and its allies and partners worked for to make sure scenes like this never happened again, and I am horrified.

i met a man who was there. 6' 9" + had a machine gun. seen band of brothers like 4 times.

his valor. He worked the PA coal mines, was Penn State '39, fought, came home and worked for Bethlehem Steel, thought John Lennon was a poetic genius, and raised with my mother a die-hard Democratic daughter (moi).
One bit of humor: It's a good thing he was sent to Europe, as with his round wire-rimmed specs he looked like Hirohito! 😄

The plan was lunacy at best but it did graphically illustrate that a near-defeated opponent is not the same as a defeated opponent.
