You are entitled to your opinion and I am sympathetic to it, but we are way, way too early to be excluding Democrats.

I think he's a little over-produced for this set of circumstances. It's great that he's in the mix, but I think the one out in front will be who promotes justice, reparations, repair and renewal. No coddling of the white supremacist fascism that got us here. No centering of racist grievance in our legislative compromises. No compromising with racist fascists. Fire every trump crony. It's never too early to promote justice.

A colleague described him as a quintessential "California man". That his demeanor and politics are entirely authentic, but he is also extraordinarily media aware and somewhat vain.

He, unlike Fetterman, Sinema, Manchin, etc. can meld humor and to his scorn of Trump, which is novel amongst Democrats.

Fundraising his been instrumental to Democratic leadership to our woe since 1992.

The strategy of building campaigns around money people never works for us, and we've seen grassroots fundraising being a potent narrative driver.

Newsom has something, though, which is free media. Trump took advantage of it, and Newsom will wet his beak too.

Our candidate must go through the election cycle to win a primary, so we can see which candidate connects with (or doesn't) certain groups of people. I am a radical Democracy advocate. Whoever runs let the Democratic base decide, period. I trust my fellow Democrats. If Newsome is that guy then we'll determine that in due time.
