Crossville (TN) man who sold truck out $78,000 after check bounces BEWARE GM!

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — When Shawn Burgher decided to downsize his camper, he decided to get a smaller truck and sell his old one online. He did not expect to downsize his wallet by $78,000.

“I was contacted by a gentleman who said they owned a trucking company and was looking to buy a truck to do smaller loads,” said Burgher.

"We asked him if he could call my bank to pay it off to get the title started. And I said, ‘yeah, I’ll call the bank and I’ll ask them,'” said Burgher. “So, I called GM Financial. GM Financial said that that’s okay to do a three-way call. And we did that."

Six days later, the check was reversed. Burgher said GM Financial still has not explained why.
