Sadly, I can hear the homicide investigator saying this at the beginning of the investigation.

That's what always goes through my mind with stories like this.

This is just an unspeakable tragedy.

Everywhere.

He and his family must be devastated.

And it's a tragedy no matter whose family that child came from.

Toxic partners can be really hard to anticipate, because sociopaths and narcissists can be really good at appearing acceptable and few people are willing to recognize the difference between a normal range of expressed emotions or uncomfortable situations and the accumulation of red flags.
