The important thing is to be truthful with our own adolescent children, warning them of the dangers out there. They need to know that not all adults are safe to be around. Ultimately it's still the responsibility of PARENTS to keep their OWN children safe. Problems arise when parents stop doing this, or if they aren't capable of doing it.

1st of all, for many that abuse starts at home. add on teen rebellion, budding sexuality, and boy, soon it’s a swamp.
good parenting helps, but it’s not enough. empowering kids to listen to their instincts helps, but so often their futures depend on bad actors who know it.
and especially in our f’d up economy, where so many work so many hours, just keeping food and a roof can b as much as a person can handle.

I'm in my 70s, and I grew up completely innocent of all these dangers. My own parents were very responsible, but they never breathed a word about predatory behavior or pedophiles to us when we were kids.

It's all so different now.

LIDAR would probably do the job just fine, it's adjustable for different things and depths. I was studying that in its infancy when I was in grad school, pretty cool tool. If they can use it to find sunken cities, I think they could find bones a few feet down... unless he was using large construction sites.
