It is way worse than any public numbers being released. Yeah, I know we know that.

I am in a space where I monitor such things very closely in a couple of different professions and industry sectors. I have never in my entire career seen it this bleak. That includes the COVID shutdown period and the Great Recession. Just a couple of months ago I would have said my job is about as "safe" as private employment gets. I'm not taking anything for granted now.

My spouse is looking for a job in the Bay Area this spring and I’m really nervous about anything being available at his skill set level. Your post gives me pause. Thanks for sharing.
