That was the day that Donald Trump gave Elon Musk a gold key and kicked him out of the White House. This was a severe blow to the ego of "the richest man in the world".
He took to "X", formerly Twitter, and expressed his anger and resentment. He said the "big beautiful bill" would raise the deficit and that Trump should be impeached and Vance should replace him. He said that Trump's tariffs would cause a recession.
Then he said it. That the real reason the Epstein files had not been made public was because Donald Trump's name was in them. That opened the Pandora's box that we see today.
It was not the Democrats that insisted on making the Epstein files public. They only went along with the MAGA supporters that wanted the files opened. It was Elon Musk that started the ball rolling on the Epstein files.

(3,273 posts)By commenting that she was looking at "the list" iirc early in 2025, and then a couple months later by declaring that the investigation was over, Epstein/Maxwell basically acted alone, etc. That later issuance especially started a firestorm of people being interested in the case again.
So it wasn't only Musk. And EVERYONE already knew Trump's name would be all over them, they were good friends, there were dozens of pics of the two of them, etc.
And so far there is nothing that's been released that been particularly damaging to Trump politically (it SHOULD in a normal world, but it hasn't), nor criminally. Which one could've logically presumed would be the case, given the DoJ is led by his sycophants and he's blatantly directing what they do/don't do in this, and many other arenas.
Musk was a player in it yes, but it wasn't all his doing that the files are "released" (kinda sorta).

As he didn't, I'm guessing it's more good ol' political malpractice to help someone higher up the food chain than moi.
