Trump: "We should take over the voting in at least 15 places. The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting."

Trump stunned political analysts on Monday after he made a wild claim about the upcoming election during a podcast interview with his former FBI deputy director.

Trump appeared Monday on "The Dan Bongino Show," where he called on Republicans to "nationalize" the election process to combat voting by illegal immigrants. The U.S. Constitution says states are in control of administering elections, while the federal government is responsible for approving the results, along with limited national and domestic security roles.

"These people were brought to our country to vote, and they vote illegally," Trump said. "The Republicans should say, we should take over the voting in at least 15 places. The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting. We have states that I won that show I didn't win. You're gonna see something in Georgia."

"He’s saying the quiet part out loud: Trump and MAGA Republicans can’t win with their unpopular policies at the ballot box, so they want to steal the 2026 election," Sen. Ed Markey (D-MD) posted on X.

2. Look... he got away with EVERYTHING so far... (ILLOGICAL RANT...skip this if you don't like venting)...

Monday

He tried and failed to lead a coup d'etat on January 6th... he never went to prison or faced ANY accountability for it and then retook office and wiped the records of his guilt clean with abused pardons and revisionist bullshit.

He raped women and little girls - in some truly stomach churning details - and yet... he is still a free man and POTUS to boot...

He lies hundreds of thousands of times... and NOTHING happens to him.

He goes to a PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE and starts talking about immigrants eating dogs and cats and NO ONE IN THE FUCKING MEDIA STAYS ON THE REAL STORY - him being literally fucking insane - and he is allowed to retake the Oval Office.

He sends the military into our cities, he arms and equips a new Gestapo and invades cities and oversees the MURDER OF CITIZENS exercising their Constitutional Rights... and NOTHING happens to him. He murders people in international waters, he threatens NATO allies and cozies up to Putin and Erdogan and the like...and NOTHING happens to him.

Media, Billionaires, Military, Politicians - ALL get on their knees and suck him off and NOTHING HAPPENS TO HIM!!!!
He bribes, he threatens, he lies and lies and lies some more and no one is doing a goddamn thing about it besides speeches and sharply worded statements to captive media outlets that achieve exactly NOTHING.

Of course he is going to try to cancel and/or steal the elections in November, at this pace and trajectory, we will not only not have elections in November, we will have gulags and people disappearing and NOTING IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO TRUMP....NOT A GODDAMN FUCKING THING. He should be fearing for his life and on the run trying to find a country to provide him cover and asylum and instead he is ordering expansion of the police state, intimidation of the press and businesses and filing superfluous lawsuits of ludicrous amounts of money from his own government...

I just want to go to sleep tonight and wake up tomorrow to find out he died overnight (choked on his own fucking tongue) and that the world is going to start to make some sense again. Nothing will change until he is gone from the planet - not a single goddamn thing. Its been 11 YEARS since that stupid escalator....a pandemic that cost over a million lives, economic collapses and stock market theft, massive unrest, and the motherfucking orange cockroach is still around.

Fuck my entire life, its all been for nothing. Playing by the rules of decency has only landed me on the verge of being broke, unable to figure out how to get my kids through college without strapping on MORE debt and remaining penniless for my retirement years. It is just cripplingly depressing. All of it. I have never in my life wanted to cheer the death of another human being to the degree I want to celebrate that rapist's doom. It won't make it better, but it will stop the pain for a moment.

First, the suffering of others will be vastly reduced and second, he’ll stop generating negative karma for himself.
I think it’s a wholesome viewpoint.
Good rant.

5. MaddowBlog-'Republicans ought to nationalize the voting': Trump eyes radical power-grab

Those concerned about democracy don’t have the luxury of simply shrugging with indifference to the president’s latest conspiratorial nonsense.

Four weeks ago: Trump floated the idea of canceling future elections
Three weeks ago: “When you think of it, we shouldn’t even have an election”
Yesterday: “The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting”

But it’s not just rhetoric: all of this has come against a backdrop of concrete action.

Partway through the interview, Bongino briefly referred to crime rates, to which Trump responded with a meandering rant across a variety of unrelated subjects, including his bizarre beliefs about election administration.

Trump: "These people were brought to our country to vote, & they vote illegally. The Republicans should say, we should take over the voting in at least 15 places. The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting. We have states that I won that show I didn't win. You're gonna see something in Georgia"

In the course of an unsettling tirade about his “landslide” victory in 2024 (which clearly wasn’t a landslide) and his belief that undocumented immigrants were brought into the U.S. specifically to vote against Republicans (undocumented immigrants cannot and do not vote), Trump elaborated on his vision for the nation’s electoral system.

“You know, it’s amazing that the Republicans aren’t tougher on it,” the president told Bongino. “The Republicans should say, ‘We want to take over.’ We should take over the voting, the voting in at least many, 15 places. The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting.”.....

Trump has long made clear that he rejects the idea that Americans settle their differences at the ballot box, and in recent weeks he’s offered fresh evidence of his antipathy toward democracy. On the anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021, attacks, for example, Trump briefly floated the idea of canceling future U.S. elections. A few weeks ago, he told Reuters that he’s so impressed with himself and his record that “when you think of it, we shouldn’t even have an election.”

While Trump doesn’t have a credible plan to take over the nation’s system of elections, his increasingly frequent and radical declarations have been unsubtle. They’ve also begun to result in concrete action: It was just last week when FBI agents raided an elections office in Fulton County, Georgia, seizing ballots and voting records as part of the president’s conspiracy theory, which included Trump personally thanking the agents for their efforts.

This coincided with Trump’s Justice Department pursuing an aggressive campaign to acquire voter rolls from states where Democrats won in 2024.

Those concerned about democracy, voting rights and the integrity of election results don’t have the luxury of simply shrugging with indifference at the president’s latest nonsense. It’s part of a broader pattern of behavior that extends well beyond ridiculous whining.

6. MaddowBlog-Eyeing midterms, Steve Bannon expects ICE agents, troops at local polling sites

A prominent Democratic governor recently said he was concerned about Trump deploying federal personnel to the polls. Bannon just touted that exact idea.

A variety of Republicans expressed discomfort with the declaration, which Trump repeated on Tuesday and Wednesday, pointing to the inconvenient fact that what the president wants is at odds with the U.S. Constitution, which he ostensibly swore to uphold. But one of the president’s allies enthusiastically endorsed the radical gambit. The New Republic noted:

The chief strategist during the president’s first term has a grim vision for the 2026 midterm elections, and it involves armed federal agents.

‘You’re damn right we’re gonna have ICE surround the polls come November,’ Steve Bannon said on his War Room podcast on Tuesday.

“We’re not gonna sit here and allow you to steal the country again,” Bannon added. “And you can whine and cry and throw your toys out of the pram all you want, but we will never again allow an election to be stolen.”

Steve Bannon: “You’re damn right we’re gonna have ICE surround the polls come November.”

Ari Drennen (@aridrennen.bsky.social) 2026-02-04T19:31:41.011Z

For now, let’s not dwell on the obvious fact that the 2020 election wasn’t stolen. Let’s instead note that the podcast host went on to say that he wouldn’t be satisfied with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents surrounding local voting precincts in November: Bannon also wants to see the deployment of active-duty military personnel.

“President Trump has to nationalize the election. You’ve got to put not just, I think, ICE, you’ve got to call up the 82nd and 101st Airborne [Divisions] on the Insurrection Act,” he told his listeners. “You’ve got to get around every poll and make sure only people with IDs, people … actually registered to vote and people that are United States citizens vote in this election.”....

So when a prominent presidential ally uses his conservative media platform to talk about ICE agents and military troops being deployed to local voting precincts, we’re no longer at a place where it’s easy to shrug off such rhetoric as ridiculous.

A few months ago, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker appeared on MS NOW and said he was concerned about the Republican administration deploying federal personnel to polling locations under the pretense of “protecting the vote.” With Bannon endorsing this exact scenario, it’s probably best not to look away too quickly.
