(18,738 posts)THAT is why they will never stop loving him (and no it isn't just performative, no they haven't secretly changed their minds). They cannot accept the psychic pain of admitting their own failures/flaws. They are too far down the road.

(407 posts)They are so used to doing what they're told. They'll believe anything now. Weak minded, and too scared to leave their cult, since they know how violent the believers can be, and they're just smart enough to get that. For the ones that actually agree with all of it, heaven help us.
I just keep wondering it myself, how can anyone believe in him

(96 posts)Trump and other Republicans are supported by a huge network of people (and as of recent "AI" LLMs) who spend all day telling lie after lie after lie constantly 24/7. Traditional media and social media are all flooded with this kind of crap. Heck Trump has Russian and Chinese bots promoting him: entire countries support him because they know he's bad for America.
The solution is to fight back hard by doing these things:
1. Urge schools to train students to recognize disinformation, lies and propaganda. Also learn about cognitive warfare and teach emotional resiliency to prepare everyone against this threat.
2. Boycott advertisers who advertise on stations like Fox News. Contact them and say we'll boycott them until they stop advertising on those stations.
3. We must shift our personal media habits towards supporting platforms that are unbiased and defend the truth.
4. Boycott the worst of the worst social media platforms like TikTok and Twitter.
5. Do likewise for traditional rightwing TV channels by blocking them and demanding your cable company offer packages without those stations to avoid paying them transmission fees. Also if you have access to public TVs like in a break room or gym and you're the only one in the room get a universal remote and block Fox "News" on the TV. If in a waiting room or somewhere like that always demand they change the station when showing Fox.
