The Smear Campaign Started Instantly. Jasmine Crockett Was the Target. The Truth Comes Out.

The Smear Campaign Started Instantly. Jasmine Crockett Was the Target. The Truth Comes Out.

Within hours of her announcement, the attacks began. What followed wasn’t random backlash—it was a rapid, coordinated effort to define Jasmine Crockett before voters could hear her case.

The day after Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett entered the Texas Senate race, a wave of attacks hit with unusual speed and intensity. Panelists break down why the smears didn’t originate organically and how familiar patterns emerge when Black women step into leadership. Credentials, record, and voter realities were ignored in favor of narratives designed to discredit. The timeline tells the story—and it wasn’t accidental.

Kaivan Shroff, the author of a new piece from The Daily Beast, titled "Democrats Must Stop Bickering--Jasmine Crockett Deserves Her Shot" spoke with Roland about the blatantly coordinated attack against Crockett.

🔥 Attacks on Jasmine Crockett began almost immediately after her announcement.
🔥 Panelists explain why the speed and messaging point to coordination, not coincidence.
🔥 Familiar patterns emerge when Black women seek leadership—credentials questioned, legitimacy challenged.
🔥 The facts don’t match the smears, and the timeline makes that clear.

1. But It wasn't about her being black at all!!! If that was the case in Texas (not) she wouldn't be there.

It was all about how in Texas we have rallied behind Tallarico and sunk lots of $$$ into taking Cornyn’s seat and this just threw a monkey wrench in it. We don’t need the distractions.
Sure wish she would stay where so is so she can take Ted Ooze’s seat.
I love Jasmine but will be voting for Tallarico.
Timing is everything.

8. I will vote for him if he ends up being the nominee (he's miles better than the two idgits we have now).

However, there are things about him that I have reservations about, which to me makes Crockett the better choice.

I don't doubt they will attack her from the right.

I also don't doubt activists here in TX will vote for their preferred candidate. I support the guy who is a great candidate for us and had already been out campaigning since Sept for the seat. I am a housewife in a suburb of Houston (in Al Green's district). If she ends up the candidate, I will of course vote for her. But as I've said before she's not ideal for that spot, esp. given the candidate we already had running. I think she'd be much better matched against Cruz. Just my opinion of course, but unlike a lot of you I've actually lived, walked door to door, and voted in Texas for 20+ years.

First of all, I live in Vermont. This means I have no knowledge of Texas other than what I read.

I am not a bot, but a liberal woman born in Indiana, then lived in NJ in an old money Republican county, then moved to VT. I am real and I've posted here since 2005.

My concern is that the very things that make her a DU favorite could make her a Democratic version of Ted Akin. She could maybe win a Senate nomination if she lived in Vermont and remotely possible that she could win in NJ. Texas will be very very tough for any Democrat.

I remember the excitement here when Beto O'rocke and then Allred seemed to have a chance. I wish that there was polling asking people who they would definitely, possibly or never vote for in the general election. That would be what would be needed to assess whether she is a riskier candidate than others.

However, I HATE this over the top video that smears everyone supporting another candidate and giving ANY reason why they prefer their candidate. People here could look through threads and some of the people whose comments would be attacked by this video are people whose posts I have long respected.

11. Beto has been the closest we've gotten to getting rid of Cruz (2.5%)

But we are not talking Cruz for this seat. We are dealing with an incumbent since 2002. Cornyn - the seat Crockett and Talarico are vying for - is still leading although he's being challenged by Paxton and Hunt. Cornyn has had spats with Trump, so there is no endorsement there yet. But there certainly will be once we get past the primaries.

Assuming Cornyn wins coming out the primary (and I think with his experience he probably will), I like running Talarico against him much better than Crockett. Simply because I've seen what happens to strong women in Texas against old white men. I donated to Wendy Davis (even after the DNC pulled their support), and she lost big to Abbott. So, I'm looking at where we factually have been historically. Folks need to put down their video cameras and outrage. They need to focus on the numbers.

Crockett thinks people are sour enough on Trump & she's got a lot of charisma. I agree that she does, but so does James Talarico. Plus, he has Latino heritage and his religious background. He may not be able to topple an experienced politician like Cornyn, but I do think he's a stronger candidate to give it a try in this particular race, given what we've seen historically.
