My health insurance (Oscar) has gone up by 1200% and If the tax credit is taken away, it will go up by 6500%

I have been paying just $20 per month, using the ACA tax credit. For the same plan, it will cost $260 from January 1st. Without the tax credit, it will be just over $1300. I know that is a lot less than many are paying, but it is a 6500% increase.

I decided to go without insurance for now until my finances improve. I live in Georgia, and what I noticed yesterday is that when you sign up for a health plan, it shows the monthly premium, still with the tax credit. This is important because there may be millions of folk not prepared or even unaware of the massive price hikes coming in a few weeks.

1. It should be noted that not all the subsidies are going away -- just the recent increased subsidies.

So, the $260 premium may be accurate since most people will still receive subsidies, just not as much as before due to Republicans letting them expire.

I knew this was going to happen since July. No amount of rational thought can prepare anyone for this crisis. This is my reality and adds to my overall anxiety.

all these years too busy to go to doc.

High deductible, too, and then it pays 50%…
Plus they are immoral companies.

Better to just accept mortality… Well, I’ll get $8K or $10K of exams, tests, treatments..and at least won’t be dealing with insurance bureaucracy.

6. FYI, Oscar was cofounded by Joshua Kushner (Jared's brother)

Jared had a role in the holding company prior to joining g the first Trump administration and they made money off COVID contracts. I’m not saying it’s a scam (I don’t know enough about it), but I’d be wary and do more research if you have concerns.
