TX US Senate candidate James Talarico(D) Vs 20 undecided voters

This is one highly impressive Senate candidate.

2. I almost wonder if he should run for governor instead

...maybe do a switch like Allred did. Crockett can pull in so much cash with her connections and name recognition but he has the real top-of-the-ballot appeal/ crossover appeal that can translate into some serious coattails.

Talent, and courage, Texas is still a misogynistic and racist state.

4. She could but I agree it is less likely than Talarico

My thinking is this:

We have two very well funded and popular (within the party) dems running for the same statewide office. One seems to have very strong potential to win statewide. But both are going to have strong downballot impacts. Regardless of if they win statewide, having both on the general election ballot statewide would earn huge dividends (maybe double) in combining strong base turnout among Dems (Crockett) and strong turnout among low propensity/ crossover voters (Talarico).

The fact this firepower is being used on ourselves is really self defeating in a flippable state like Texas.

6. I think Talarico has a better chance as well

We have seen how racism and sexism have played out in the 2016 and 2024 elections. Anyone who thinks Jasmine is going to sail right through because democrats are going to turn up at the polls... is forgetting 2016 and 2024. Texas is a red state. A candidate like Talarico has a much better chance of winning state-wide.

It's disappointing that we have both popular candidates running for the same position. Would be much better if she had decided to run for something else, and then they could have worked together, had all that momentum working together to get democrats out, and boost down ticket races. As it is, one of them will knock the other out in March and that will be that. Disappointing.

She can run for governor. Talarico stays in the senate race. I literally groaned when I heard she was entering the race. Two great candidates for the same position and only one can advance. Would make so much more sense if she had decided to go for governor and we would have had prominent democrats working together to get the vote out and it would have boosted down ballot races all the way down the ticket.

I was hoping he’d run for governor, but he has other ambitions. Certainly makes it hard to choose between the two of them.

She was the first Black person to give a keynote address at
a Democratic convention...

and she was the primary Congress person, along with Senator
Sam Irvin, in the Watergate hearings.

Much to be admired.
