All The President's Men

You can couch it any way you want but when I hear someone saying "we aren't ready for a female president" including Pelosi and Michelle Obama, that is telling young girls and young women, they can't be president of the United States. You can say "that's not what is meant" but you have to understand how it's heard, not what you mean. I could not disagree more with the assessment that it's not possible. Some are even saying a female nazi candidate becoming president is more likely that a Democratic one, is a reflection of the Democratic Party, not the country. If you honestly think they could do that then that, by definition, is not a problem with society in the US but a shortcoming of the Democratic Party and it's messaging. I'm not saying that but just interpreting what is being said.
I mean Hillary won the popular vote. VP Harris won the second most votes of any Democratic candidate we have ever run. So to imply we cannot win is ridiculous in my opinion. And we sure as hell aren't going to get there by talking like we have already lost before we even try. Especially if you are implying you would not vote for a female candidate in a primary simply based on the fact that the candidate is a woman. That is sexist and misogynistic, no other way to interpret that in my opinion.

Also, this talk of repealing the 19th amendment is fringe Nazi BS and 80%+ of the country would not support that.

I'm a dyed in the wool pessimist but my pessimism is rooted in reality, not Facebook memes and echo chambers.

I am absolutely positive that a woman will be president of the United States in my lifetime. Maybe as soon as the next election.

I believe anyone that doesn't believe that is possible, including Pelosi and Michelle Obama, need to move out of the way because they are sowing seeds of doubt, instead of seeds of hope and inspiration.

We need to move into the post Mango Mussolini era with a positive vibe and "we can fix it" attitude because that is what the majority of people, outside of Nazi and Democratic echo chambers, desperately want to hear and believe.

Back when Newsom pressed for equal rights for gays - I thought this would only hurt him, that it was too soon to press this issue, even though I am 100% in support of this myself. I was WRONG.

When Obama decided to run for President - I thought that this country was not ready for a Black President, even though I was 100% in support of him myself. I was WRONG.

And only because of the last 2 women who ran for president (arguably) lost, I saw my self taking a similar point of view, that America was so misogynistic, that in these scary times where we are losing the America we all love so much, I tend to think that it is too risky. - I am probably WRONG.

But it is very VERY hard right now to feel hopeful about anything. I would love to have a fellow female as our President. I have no doubt a woman can do the job. It is the hateful people (which has grown ever since Obama), where the people who used to hide their hate are now all out in the open.

The thing that gives me the most hope is that I am old, have no children, and won't be around to witness the destruction of America. I know this sounds like a downer. But I AM down. I'm losing faith in the Goodness of America. All I see everywhere these days is hate and corruption. Even if he dies, JD Vance and Peter Thiel are probably going to be even worse and more dangerous.

*sigh*

I hope I am WRONG about this. I really really do. I actually wish I was older than I am and that much closer to the next step on my journey. (no worries, I am not suicidal, just very VERY down and depressed.)
