It's one more Trump lie that he will never change.
"A small ( ! ) $1 million loan from my father that I paid back in full."
The actual amount was $420 million and he never paid back a penny.
Then again, this is the same guy who...during the peak of his racist "birther" conspiracy theory about Obama, claimed:
"MY INVESTIGATORS JUST GOT BACK FROM HAWAII AND YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT THEY FOUND!"
From the Google search on the above:
The phrase "MY INVESTIGATORS JUST GOT BACK FROM HAWAII AND YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT THEY FOUND" is an old, widely cited quote from Donald Trump in 2011, part of his long push to promote the false "birther" conspiracy theory that President Barack Obama was not born in the United States.
At the time, Trump repeatedly claimed to have sent a team of private investigators to Hawaii to look into the matter and promised they were finding information that would be shocking, although he never provided any evidence of their alleged discoveries.
Key Facts About the Claim
No Evidence Provided: Trump never publicly released any "findings" from his supposed investigators. When pressed by journalists for details, he often deflected, saying it "wasn't appropriate" to reveal them at the time.
A Lie, According to Cohen: Michael Cohen, Trump's former personal lawyer and "fixer," later stated that Trump was lying and never actually sent anyone to Hawaii. Cohen claimed Trump pursued the conspiracy theory purely for the political attention and increased poll numbers it generated.
Obama Released the Long-Form Certificate: In response to the persistent claims fueled by Trump and the "birther" movement, the White House released President Obama's long-form birth certificate from the state of Hawaii in April 2011, which definitively proved he was born in the U.S..
Trump's Concession: After years of questioning the document's validity even after its release, Trump finally publicly acknowledged in September 2016 that "President Barack Obama was born in the United States. Period".
The entire episode is widely characterized by media and political analysts as a baseless, racist conspiracy theory that helped fuel Trump's initial political rise.
