Many are careless about the lives of others, not imagining the pain that Trump policies would cause to others, and they only care when it affects them personally. Infuriating.

A relative voted for him in 2016. Not sure about 2020 or 2024. Definitely opposes him now. Commented to me recently that he learned it’s important to really pay attention to politics. I am glad to hear, because it means change of heart is possible, and I hope that they circulate their change of heart among their friend groups.

Neighbors believed in Trump’s promises. Someone or something changed America over the decades economically, and they have been led to believe that it was “liberals” — rich liberals — in big cities like New York and Washington — and to hate the identity groups for ‘wanting something for nothing.’

The global economy was good for me, as a steady investor in a booming market — and for 95% of national politicians over the last 30 years. But my old small town generally looks tired, small business replaced with pawn shops. Money is being sucked away from main street to wall street for 30 years, and it shows.

A neighbor still has MAGA stickers plastered on her truck (or her husband’s trucks). Someone flattened her tires, she figures it is because of the stickers. I gave her a hug. She has her hands full, with minimal resources, multiple family health issues, struggling. I see it differently when I see her, because it’s obvious to me then. Many of these people have been drowning slowly, for 40 years. Dog-paddling to stay alive and every year it gets harder to just stay afloat. Trump seemed like a floating life ring to some of them, or a lifeboat that would pull them to an economy they could understand, like the one they remembered from their youth.

There ain’t no path forward without healing, but the delusions and hallucinations are poison standing in the way.

A corrupt financial system is underpinning a lot of this grief.

And you're right, Fox News and hate radio and Charlie Kirk blamed it on liberals.

In fact, it was the Republican Party.

They're in this cycle and will be until they realize the Republicans they trust and vote for have brought them to this place of poverty and failure.

I've had three chances to vote for him, and I've always taken the opportunity to vote for someone else. I don't care if he is somehow on the ballot every 4 years until 2096 (assuming he and I live that long), I will NEVER vote for him, or for any Republican who has in any way supported and/or enabled him. She's absolutely right...no forgiveness until you show by your actions that you have earned it.

I have grabbed every opportunity the universe has given me to vote against that horrible POS. Thank goodness he didn’t jump into politics any earlier. Although maybe the Republican party wouldn’t have been so quick to embrace him a couple decades earlier. They were strongly triggered by a black man with a foreign-sounding name winning the presidency.

Many of these people are looking for someone to hate. No one makes you look at Fox News, read right wing nonsense, listen to Charlie Kirk, go to right wing churches or mosques and believe some people are less than you and wish them harm. They were all to happy to have a second helping of the monster until they felt the pain. Germany changed with education, taking a hard look at their recent history and law’s to recognize and attempt to stop another Hitler. America will do none of these things and the next demagogue who comes along they will go along with willingly.

These are the same people who:

* cheered W's "Mission Accomplished" invasion of Iraq, but then didn't like it when it was a lie and their sons came home damaged. (2003-2008)

* believed Birther conspiracies about Barack Obama because they hated that a black man was president. (2008-2016))

* cheered taxcut for billionaires, but then were upset when Republicans crash the economy. (2001 and 2017)

* listened to Rush Limbaugh gleefully spew hate and lies as they planted then harvested their crops or were on their sales jobs (1990's-2000's)

* voted for Bush 41 mostly because of Lee Atwater's hateful racist Willie Horton Ad (1988)

* Listened to Nixon's Southern Strategy and foreever voted according
(1968)

HERE IS THE ONLY WAY I WILL ACCEPT A REPENTED MAGA:

They must he DONE with Goebellsvision, aka Fox, extremist, Rightwing hate radio, rightwing social media, and, hatefull podcacasters. Otherwise, they're just going to accept the next Trump with the embedded racism
