spray them with pepper spray to protect them from being assaulted they way ICE always assaults them? If a member of my family or friend was being beat up I would try to help them. Why does saying you are with ICE give you permission to beat anyone up?
EDIT - I just watched ICE in Minnesota spraying the big canisters pepper spray at everyone! How the hell can that be legal

(18,741 posts)state's monopoly on consequence-free violence. Let's cut the crap -- laws and rights are a not-so-polite fiction.
If you try to stop them, they will hurt you -- and get away with it no matter what they do or what is/isn't deserved.
It is grim out there.

(5,049 posts)Authoritarian Strong Leaders need a police force only accountable to them. And ICE was just funded by 170 billion dollars by Congress, making it larger than the militaries of all but fifteen countries. Under authoritarianism might makes right. Physically attacking ICE is exactly what they want. Bullies love a fight that they know that they are going to win. Attacking ICE agents will give Trump and ICE an excuse to take the violence to the next level.
Obviously very few judges will use their power to let off someone attacking an officer, even ICE. But the US public will overwhelmingly not support any kind of attack against an officer. And they will blame the authoritarian crackdown which follows on the person who attacked the officer.
There is a huge difference between filming or yelling at an officer and actually touching or spraying an officer.
Spraying an officer, best case scenario, one's family gets a pile of cash from the idiot who tricked you into doing it after ICE shoots them dead.
