and they've all been put into permanent "retirement" (boxed storage) ... I'll never play them again. I feel that Victor Willis betrayed us for money, and his "music unites everyone" excuse was contrived and lacked sincerity.

I feel the same way about Gloria Gaynor... Artists like Gloria Gaynor and Village People have historically represented empowerment and resilience, so their political choices can feel like a betrayal, especially when they seem to contradict the struggles for equality and acceptance within my community.

More of the "I-got-mine, so fuck everyone else" crowd.
