Denmark has labeled the U.S. as a potential security concern for the first time in an annual report released by one of its intelligence agencies, offering more evidence of the increasingly fraught transatlantic alliance between Europe and the U.S.
The report, compiled by the Danish Defense Intelligence Service (DDIS), warns that the U.S. uses economic power, including threats of high tariffs, to enforce its will and no longer rules out the use of military force, even against allies.
That assessment forms part of the services wider analysis that great powers increasingly prioritize their own interests and use force to achieve their goals.
CNN has reached out to the U.S. Embassy in Copenhagen and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in Washington for comment. https://www.ctvnews.ca/world/article/denmark-sees-us-as-potential-security-concern/

(7,279 posts)Understand, I don't blame any country for doing this. In fact, I agree that the United States, as it stands right now, is an absolute threat to democracies everywhere. We are 100% in the autocratic, dictatorial worldview of China and an agent for Russia. Who wouldn't declare us a danger? I'm waiting for the "Terrorist State" declaration by Venz or another country we've attacked. When will this Twilight Zone episode end, please?! Either that, or bring back the cornfield!

(9,710 posts)Luckily, we are beginning to have other reliable sources, and the BBC can usually be counted on to tell a little more truthful version of the news.

ZDFchannel Two TV: Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen
DPADeutsche Presse Agentur, literally German Press Agency
AFPAgence France Presse, French version of the DPA.
There are others, of course, but those are the ones I listen to most over here. DPA and AFP are print agencies. They are, sadly, NOT immune to being influenced by American media. The Germans were far more lenient with Trump than the French, who give no one a break, least of all themselves. The Germans have since come around though. Trumps free rides are a thing of the past.

(1,083 posts)I mean the US is literally trying to coerce or otherwise threaten to take over a part of their country. In some ways its a lot like another big country next to Europe. I forgot the name of it. I think it starts with an R.

(601 posts)It's all about zones of influence and the might-makes-right exercise of military power again.
What's different this time is that the great powers have nukes.
And all it will take is one little miscalculation by someone, somewhere....

(176 posts)my elder siblings have been telling me for years that we are/were on the brink of fascism. Sad that they were right. Most terrible things that happen are foreseen by some (especially the ones paying attention), ignored by many, and then people are shocked when they happen.
Will we ever be able to stop history from repeating itself?
