I don't have a problem with the insane one

He’s insane, dumb as a rock in a lot of areas, but brilliant at manipulating people. Yes, people with mental illnesses can be highly intelligent at manipulating people. He is a very sick individual, my problem isn’t with him.

It’s the entire Republican Party that I hold to blame for attempting to destroy our democracy, our health care system, our country. The party of Dwight Eisenhower is actively working with an insane traitor. They are pissing on the graves of all WW2 veterans.

I hope that as disgusting as he is, that the Democratic Party will put more effort into tying the republican party to him.
A normal party with an ounce of human decency would have stopped him long ago, but a party beholden to a murderous
Dictator and immoral billionaires is literally ecstatic to destroy our country.

Say it loud and often, repeat, repeat, repeat, IT IS THE ENTIRE REPUBLICAN PARTY THAT IS ALLOWING THIS ALL TO HAPPEN!

I wanted to point this out.

I have decided to formally write a long post in the DU Activist HQ about the role of technocracy in the rise of Trump.
Today my dad was mocking Trump for apparently setting a million dollars and some qualifications as the price for entry to the US. He was mocking the notion of buying your way into entry.

That’s bs. It’s a million dollars and fealty to Trump with their Palantir Panopticon.
This mercenary movement has ruined education snd healthcare and of course the environment. And it’s like this rapacious beast that must be fed till nothing remains.

The GOP has destabilised Latin America and has a huge role in driving the very migration they decry and exploit to destroy the public sector, regulation etc.

It’s confounding ..the human brain doesn’t have the ability to grasp this much parasitic evil -some of it tritely banal and the rest malicious and banal.

Anyway I wanted to formally post on DU Activist HQ. I can’t do anything about politics since I am not American or in the US.

But I am planning on doing what I can about the technocrats ruining my home here and my rights sans any RTI and taking over my street.

They are ruining everything. I was looking up AI crawlers that EarlG mentioned in an email to me to get a better sense of what they are and apparently Wikipedia (one of the less sucky parts of the net) along with Stack Exchange..some people seem to think Reddit is less sucky as well.

And they are all affected by those. It really is time for a non joke techlash. These guys are parasites. I don’t mean the random worker in tech held hostage by the need to earn a living.

I mean those creeps at the top. Google is officially now a Pentagon contractor. Of course they are also pretty stupid but they are hijacking all of medical research.
I wouldn’t touch brain research etc done by them with only the kinds of scientists they like..the sellout shills on TED etc and very few of the kinds of scientists I trust.

But well I have to put some thought into it and draft a post with more care than my normal rants that really look as if an insane person wrote them or worse a bot. I don’t know which is more insulting. I guess bot.

and I do have to go work. I saw that creep Nadella shilling AI. Yeah no. Indigenous creep or giant creep, it’s all the same to me.

I know you worked in tech Usonian..or that was my impression. I am not attacking all of tech though I write hyperbolically. I don’t mean it literally. It’s internetese.
But as you rightly point out, these guys.,they want everything..

I have to go offline and work today for sure. But I am going to draft a long post for activist Hq. If it is not directly tied to democratic politics it is still tied to the root issue by now as so much is being done via the net which means control over far too much.
EarlG’s post election analysis was correct imo.

I also feel like Lina Khan is a big part of the reason they really pushed back. I think some labor friendly and regulatory moves by Biden really angered the technocrats. They tried to I think a keep a foot in both camps some via Reid Hoffman etc (unpalatable I know..I get it..I am not so not pragmatic that I say people should turn down what money they can get from peopel pike Hoffman as long as he has no influence..Hoffman may also get by now how Nazi they are and that it might be better to take less influence as the price for not worrying about nazis all the time or that’s my hope. Because it would be a terrible idea to scuttle the progressives and dilute that movement out to merely slow the cancer rather than attack its roots..I am not enthusiastic when I see donations by these guys to the left. But it’s only pure astroturf if it dilutes the message down to nothing and kills the fighting instincts. You need both. They keep saying it is ideological purity while the effects of the right shifting are blatantly obvious. You need more balance and fighting instincts.
I am closer to people like Yasha Levine or Nathan Robison I’ll admit..so well to the left. But that doesn’t mean I don’t get compromise..it’s just about where to peg it at in this extreme a situation. Because it is not really about purity so much as Accelerationism at this point. They really want full control. And not my amazing tech. By rubbish like this:

https://www.pcmag.com/news/wikipedia-faces-flood-of-ai-bots-that-are-eating-bandwidth-raising-costs

It’s not high quality and ..it’s not like German (not Nazi stuff but they legitimately do have very good science and education..or used to..who knows by now..)

I have struggled in science due to the legitimate rigors and difficulties of science.
That was most of it/ but in the last decade or so it’s more like this buggy shit. Some piece of shit AI agent or bad methods that are distracting. It’s such junk….

and always made an honest living. Totally varied environments. Self-taught with computers, from early days. Lived through the micromputer and open source revolutions.

Unfortunately, some sick people pander(ed) to the worst in people. I tried to do good, even in aerospace. Always defense only, and my growth there paved the way for staff work at University and later, at Sun Microsystems, where my group supported education.

We make choices, and while opportunities are limited, they are still choices, and doing no harm is one of them.

One confusing thing as I try to write up an important post in the activist HQ, is what I remember from a period of brushes with lousy tech.

One sign I have seen of honesty in people is unfortunately confusion in dealing with this emerging creepy digital environment mediated by all sorts of agents and bots, but which also is hard to address..

Early on and even now as I see this grow around me insufferably corrupting and contaminating everything else, any decent people with real products and services who exist in the world such as it is -not making it worse but as you say “doing no harm” or even improving it is, if they see an ott rant or hear a vague rumor, they could think it’s about them.

And people like that usually look confused and probably later angry or depressed or wary feeling attacked when it’s not about them at all.

It’s this tragicomic situation where you are ranting about people at the very top and random people get offended.
It is not possible to explain stuff in a never ending if else loop explaining every context and situation

A bot wouldn’t know how to explain something so all possible people who could see it don’t get confused and a human who tries sounds crazy. Because of the secrecy with which these lousy things are built it’s not even that easy to estimate the probability of this or that situation applying as easily as one could.

Ed Zitron rants about it. More people do by how.
It’s like this nuisance that sucks away time attention and energy.

And irl I outright avoid spaces and people like that. And you rarely meet people who are the worst kinds of architects of this shit reality.

Part of the secrecy with which so much “development” is done now is aimed at feeding the greediest and worst parts of the machine and its owners/creators users and their sycophants. Musk being a particularly noxious example along with those Jan 6 creeps.

Irl outside of hooligans or corrupt persons we rabble meet with a low to average probability, this doesn’t apply.

I have never personally met many of the people building the things I find so objectionable and I don’t want to be kicked out of every system because someone takes something I say personally.

My doctors or delivery men etc are always decent but I am in system where the logistics are handled by people I don’t know and whatever they are like at the lower levels, at the top these days it’s going to be guys who push it. That’s who gets ahead these days. Especially at the top.

My doctors here are generally nice and decent so I don’t worry about the situation Elaine dealt with in an episode of Seinfeld. I used to look at that episode and relate to it. Say what you will about Elaine, there is no submission there. I used to bitterly remember a time when I was a free woman when I used to watch the show over the years.

It’s hard to explain it so that any potential acceptable baby doesn’t go out with the bathwater. A Tower of Babel comes to mind. Except instead of language now you have to explain human existence as a whole to avoid causing nuisance rumors as you try to identify the things that would really piss you off

I am glad tech has gotten to a point where it’s pissing off enough people that I don’t just sound crazy to anyone who reads this stuff,,as I probably did a few years ago.

Marc Andreessen, Musk and their ilk are the worst offenders. But increasingly I do suspect it needs to be rebuilt from scratch in 7-8/10 and that’s a generous estimate with some stuff that has been pissing me off. It’s just myopic at this point to yet again peg things at something that is convenient to very few , lucrative to even fewer (and those the worst) at the cost of everything and everyone else.

I have been using postimages and imgbb, but sometimes I get a malware page from postimages (only on the phone) or timeouts at imgbb, so I switched to

The point is that these forums have very limited capability, and probably due to legal hassles, don't host any images, making them 1/100 as usable as dumb-shit email. Hacker News is even proud of its 1980's text-only mode.

Just for readability, you might post elsewhere and link it here. At the very least, you might get a wysiwyg editor (I really dislike bbcode and markdown, despite being a techie ... Half of me is artistic and likes great typography and layout. My Dad was an artist and in the past, I dabbled in font creation.

Well, have fun. Remember, replying to a very long post requires lots of scrolling.

The NYT for instance is a particularly shitty paper. The peg the “what is permissible” line around where the brainless sensibilities of Ross Douhat and the rest of their oped writers’ average is and that is just so awful.
After Krugman left I had little respect for their editorial board. And as things have accelerated (there is no other term) they have stayed in a damn stagnant bog that wasn’t a good fit even for that era.

The Accelerationism of this moronic pseudoelite grinds everyone else down to a halt. Unbelievably awful..

I am reading a book right now by Adam Becker called “More everything forever” (I swear I have no tie ins ..I feel I sound like an influencer or fawning LLM . These rants are 100% the “product” of an irate human boosting any tool that may work against those creeps..this is a crisis and it’s spreading across the globe..I don’t want what you guys are dealing with over there here..I don’t want a phony “UBI” at the cost of letting these guys take my home and street without any oversight by me and more sleazy decisions made that I have no say in) and God these guys are idiots. Apparently that ass Marc Andreessen is the keeper of the real scientific method..
Such a bloody waste of time, energy and resources and shilled by people with worst instincts like the NYT. So myopic.
Unless one of my friends or colleagues approved it keep your damn physical AI or ubiquitous computing the fuck out of my home.
I don’t want rolling rocks moon billboard style beer commercials and phony corporate street art etc.

(As a personal note..it’s so insidious ..they are so averse to for instance assertive women..they back the GOP -this type of movement for a reason. That a completely forced by garbage tech (and its insistent shills) persona of a screaming borderline or sad and depressed woman is all they can stand. And wrapped up in lucrative chestnuts about destigmatizing illness. “No really! You are crazy! Don’t fight it! There is no stigma! We have every right to force our junk tech and you are a crazy woman.” )
At least get original will you? Like the Scientologists! I am not crazy just filled with thetas or something (South Park covered it)! There is nothing more angering than one’s home being filled with junk.
