It seems as though California Governor Newsom's Press Office was mocking not only Trump's appearance at the event, which honored Sylvester Stallone, KISS, and Gloriay Gaynor, but also the president's recent decision to rename the Institute of Peace. Trump renamed the building the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace, and his appearance at the Kennedy Center Honors last night appeared to be perfect material for Governor Newsom.

His press office posted to X with a post mocking Trump's appearance at the event, renaming of the Institute of Peace, and his style of writing on Truth Social. The post, which was written in capital letters and in a style all too familiar to those who keep up to date with Trump's Truth Social posts, went viral on X.

It reads, "Terrific night accepting the first-ever Kennedy Center Peace Prize!!! Audience was amazing (chairs not great, lighting disaster). Trump and janitor Ric Grenell let the whole place go to hell! I told them as Trump dozed off: rename it the Newsom Center!! Only I can fix it!!!"
