PS - for the record, the 76ers sucked for the eight or so years before Harris bought the team, missing the playoffs half of those years and losing in the first round the other times. Harris and his group intentionally let the team tank for several years, giving them better draft pick odds. The team then made the playoffs eight straight years and while they never got past the second round of the playoffs, more often than not they made it to the second round. They stunk this season, a situation that undoubtedly had several causes, not the least of which is that an injured Joel Embid only started 19 games out of 82.

Donald Trump Threatens to Block Washington Commanders’ New Stadium and Force Name Change

In 1933, the Boston Braves football team became known as the Washington Redskins. Then, 87 years later, the Redskins became known as the Washington Football Team to avoid any further controversy about potential racial slurs. Today, president Donald Trump would like to see the now Washington Commanders go back to their previous name, before the logos changed in 2022.

Once again, questions surrounding the Washington football team’s name comes at a very interesting time, when the franchise is trying to secure a new stadium location after being at Northwest Stadium since 1997. However, the current stadium is located in Landover, Maryland, and many would like to see the Commanders play closer to their home state, preferably in the nation’s capital of Washington D.C.

However, recently president Trump issued a threat, that if the current Commanders ownership group, led by Josh Harris, isn’t willing to reconsider switching the team name back to the Redskins, then Trump says he “may put a restriction” on the team. This restriction would even include not making a “deal for them to build a stadium in Washington (D.C.).
