How is it that the House has unlimited time

to vote on a motion? A fifteen-minute vote stays open for 6 or 8 hours. Now, before anyone says, "they all do it", Nancy Pelosi would never go to the floor unless she was sure she had the votes secured. I can't remember keeping a vote open for multiple hours. An extra half hour or hour, I can understand that. But this latest vote is up to 5 hours.

I served on boards, and we voted. You vote during roll call, and you can change your vote only before the vote is gaveled, which only was minutes after the motion was made. Now, I know the House votes electronically, but once the allotted fifteen minutes that are up there should be one last call and the vote should only remain open beyond that by unanimous consent.

This is ridiculous.

In 2021 the House took seven hours and six minutes on a procedural vote related to President Biden's Build Back Better legislation.

I was just saying that this endless time crap is really frustrating, but Democrats do it too when we need to get something through.

Unfortunately, it's unlikely to happen.

"Vote time limits shall consist of 5 minutes, 10 minutes or15 minutes, announced prior to the vote and may be extended by the Speaker for no more than an extra 15 minutes. Any additional extensions will require unanimous consent,"
