Throughout my 7 decades I had always believed that none of us were perfect but that "most people" were basically good. I was so wrong. More than 70 million Americans have no idea what America is all about. I used to love reading nonfiction but my ability to concentrate is hindered by current events.

As for me, I can't read any news since mid-January. NBCNews.com, CNN.com, even AP. It's too disturbing. I post occasionally here, but depend on DU for urgent news since I can't watch or read news any more.

It was unbelievable that he was elected the first time, and I watched everything for four years, and more, of course, which was exhausting and depressing.
I thought that his crimes would stop him from running again and would stop people from voting for him if he did.
Now I get my news here on DU and avoid the news channels as much as possible.
I don't know what I can say that hasn't already been said.
I'm glad to be among all of you here; it gives me hope right now when it's so hard to see the years ahead as anything but devastating, while I try to stay positive every day, one day at a time.
