My 40+ son went extreme right wing. Can't understand why he can't get a date & it's all the woman's fault. I can barely stand to look at him these days. This is not the person I tried to raise. After 10 years of this crap I've given up hope he'll grow out of it.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I know I was taught how to handle criticism, critical thinking, and adaptation without using outside influences - and it pretty much took, but I know plenty of people who will desperately do anything to avoid criticism or a need to change plans, opinions, or habits to be able to succeed.
Grown-Assed Adults who would literally throw screaming tantrums and bully any opposition if they feel they're being "disrespected" or otherwise less important. Too many of them around, and they infect any marginally competent or somewhat insecure adults around them with their need for omnipotence.

My darling, angelic grandson is very liberal and progressive. He asks me to fill out his ballot every election day, because he trusts my political judgement. If he were ever to turn to the dark side, it would just about break my heart.
