misunderstanding of how to handle her social security and it resulted in she not being able to access her funds until SS gets it straightened out which you know with the reductions in employees it will take a long time before she can access her funds and she is in a panic....what do people expect by giving Republicans control of government?

(21,786 posts)No one should have to go through this crap, but here we are mainly because she voted against her own interest.
That said, I wish her the best of luck.

(8,535 posts)They voted for trump 6 times, and he's rounding up women and children and sending people to offshore prisons. And they'd vote for him over a highly qualified progressive black woman again.

(31,139 posts)the distinction to me is that he somehow (never gonna quite understand how) built a huge cult. republicans are what made him possible and I always like to remind people of that, and as far as the failed media...well you put it in a nutshell. they've failed their role per the First Amendment and they've failed this nation. not just the rw propaganda machine but corporate, traditional, legacy, used-to-be main stream media.

(5,626 posts)She voted for it. I could forgive 2016. But after we all saw how much of an ineffective buffoon he was there is no excuse. And every GOP Administration over the last 100 years has ended with a worse economy than it started with.

(31,263 posts)should vote no on the CR, I was told by people that by giving Krasnov what he wants Social Security would be protected.

(19,323 posts)just want a smaller government. And MAGA thinks Democrats are just like they are, people who want to destroy everything so that the plutocrats own everything and everyone is under their thumbs.
We are different than MAGA in our very soul and being.
I doubt we will have a functioning government until our legislative, executive and judicial people and families are no longer allowed to own stock or any part in any company. They must divest in all before taking office. Think Jimmy Carter and his peanut farm. If they wish to invest let them use a Federal 401-k program.

(29,496 posts)I think they really believe it's just Congress and the Senate and a few (to their mind, useless) bureaucrats. They don't realize that's who administers their social security, directs our planes, tracks our weather, staffs our parks, sends out tax refunds, helps veterans, and controls disease.
Messaging against these morons is almost futile because they don't even know what they are voting for or against.

(19,323 posts)Think MTG and Gym Jordan. I doubt they ever took any civics, social studies, government, world history, U.S. history, their states own history or anything in high school other than gym classes and the bare minimum to graduate. Some did not do that.
I think back a couple of years ago where the winner (Pita Limjaroenrat) of the Thailand presidency was disavowed as he owned some stock in a media company (Not allowed) he inherited from his did although the company was defunct and the stock was worthless. The government not only banned him but also the political party he ran on.
We need some financial rules for people in government other than just the peons that do the work.

(866 posts)The morons will start crying it doesnt work, trump will post see the nazi scum want to keep your monies!!!!!! They will believe it, and next we will be seeing people here post about how their friend was promised all of their social security tax money back, but the gobermint is only going to give them half of it back! Evil dems strike again!!!
The brainwashing is the problem. You cannot reason with people who are actively brainwashed. Its only a matter of time before statues of trump will be erected.

(32,704 posts)I had to get someone from my congressman's office to help me straighten it out. It did not help that I found out I had cancer at the same time. It did not help that my mother was being exceptionally virulent at the same time.
See if she can get an aide to her congressman from constituent services to help. My congressperson happens to be a republican. I did not drag politics into it. It took some time, but they helped me and things are okay now.
Good luck.
