BREAKING: DC Circuit panel of three Trump appointees blocks Judge Boasberg's June 11 deadline for DOJ to report back on how the Trump administration will give constitutionally required due process to the people it sent to CECOT under the AEA in March.
The "administrative stay" tonight came less than 5 hours after DOJ filed its request at the DC Circuit a move which came after DOJ waited until today to even seek a stay in the district court after Boasberg's June 4 order. Without awaiting a ruling, DOJ immediately went to the DC Circuit, too.
This is stacking bad faith upon bad faith, and with the possible exception of Abrego Garcia and the South Sudan flights it might be one of the most appalling legal developments this year. This, in a way, is more concerning because the judges are encouraging this behavior here.
